but the cake inside that frosting was tres leches (and delicious). It was from a bakery in a Mexican neighborhood in Brooklyn that gives you several options for the kind of cake, frosting and filling you want. Yellow cake was an option that would have made it more like your “regular” birthday cake. In Latinx communities, tres leches is usually the regular cake. I would be happy with either. My filling was pineapple but they had a whole list of options.
LOL, I can’t remember the last time I made or had a homemade birthday cake. Luckily we have a lot of good reasonably-priced bakeries in Brooklyn.
