I understand the debate. I think you’re right that the 60-minute drama and 30-minute comedy way of categorizing shows is very outdated. That mold has been broken. And shows absolutely shouldn’t be able to submit themselves into the awards category that they think they have a better shot at winning. This has long been a controversy when categorizing lead roles vs supporting roles.

But, yeah, I think of The Bear as similar to Nurse Jackie in terms of its balance of drama and comedy and black comedy about serious subjects.
