As a hated Yankees fan, even I don’t ever assume that.
To be perfectly clear, I and many of my fellow NE Ohioans have absolutely nothing against Yankee fans. Or really even individual players. It's more the team itself, as a whole, and TBH, a lot of that is probably because of how often the Yankees have won over the decades. So it's hatred for the TEAM...with a side of jealousy 😁
For one thing, I’m baseball superstitious enough to think I’d be cursing them if I assumed they’d make it to the World Series. Speaking of superstition, we were eating a TJ’s peach tart last night while watching the game, which we then deemed a lucky peach tart. Then we realized that it was a summer thing that was in the freezer so TJ’s likely won’t have them again until next summer. So we pivoted to deeming the peach tart lucky only for the Wild Card series. Something else will have to reveal itself as lucky for the next series.
LOL--I love it! The only thing I'm remotely superstitious about is my favorite sports teams. When we're doing well, it's obviously because of what I'm wearing, what I'm eating or drinking, how I'm sitting, etc.!
I think we were 5 games back from first place in the AL East two weeks before the end of the regular season. We caught up to Toronto to tie their W-L record but ran out of time to win one more game than them. Their record during the season against us was better so they won the division. Now we meet again for a best of 5 series. Since they won the division, I think we should win the ALDS.
Ah, that's why I was a little surprised when I found out your Yankees were in the postseason. I was too focused on the Guardians, and the AL Central, to really pay attention to how other teams were doing, but I had thought the Yankees were going to just miss the playoffs this year.
It’s not easy being a Yankees fan. So many people hate us. I’m rooting for my Yanks to make it to the WS against anyone but the Brooklyn-deserting Dodgers. I’d love a Yankees-Phillies series.
I no longer care quite so much but I'd be happy with either the Jays or the Mariners vs. anyone but the Dodgers in the series. And if the Phillies happen to win, then I'll be very happy for ladyday. If the Yankees win, well, at least I can be happy for you and the rest of their fans 😊
