getting out of hand. I was off today and Dad had an errand to run in a nearby town, so I accompanied him and then took him to lunch at Burger King. This was a bigger deal than it seems...a while back (3-4 years at least, maybe more), most of the BKs near us, including the one in my town, abruptly closed. I never knew exactly why; I'd heard they were all owned by the same guy and he'd had some financial difficulties. The BK one town over left a note on their door reading "I can't do this with only three employees", so that might've also contributed to the closings...anyways, we went to the BK and ordered dine-in. The place has a Coke Freestyle machine--I love those suckers. I love making a custom mix of half regular Coke/half Coke Zero with lime. I stepped up to the machine, got my ice, pressed the button for Coke...nothing happened. So I pressed it again. Then I saw a note in the upper left corner of the screen informing me I had to use the QR code pictured to get my drink. Um...what? They said it was so you could have a "touch free experience" but you still had to touch the big button in the center to pour your beverage. Also, they were out of pretty much everything except regular Coke, most flavors of Hi-C and most flavors of Fanta. No Dr. Pepper (which is what Dad wanted). No Sprite. No other flavors of Coke. No Gold Peak tea like the screen promised. It was pointless and annoying <g>.
Second of all, I finally hauled out the fall decorations. Seeing all the cute (fake) pumpkins scattered around the house (and being done with 80° days, at least for the time being) is making me so happy 🎃🍁🍂
