exactly what I thought?
Occasionally I like to print out special photos. Back when digital cameras ruled, I would take my SDHC card to CVS and print my photos myself. The process was seamless, if a little expensive. Now, most of the time I order photos off my phone from CVS but recently I used Google Photos to get printed copies of my special shots. It was easy, and I appreciated the price (19 cents a copy, which is what I used to pay when printing them myself at CVS all those years ago), but I was a little annoyed at how long it took for them to arrive (over two weeks) while simultaneously understanding why it took so long (I imagine not a lot of places print out photos anymore).
But I had two issues with my order that annoyed me more. First, I was sent about 15 photos that I'm *pretty* sure I didn't select for printing. Or if I did, I'm pretty sure I unselected them. Now this is maybe on me...I honestly don't remember if there was a "view your order" page that I didn't scroll through to see the photos selected that I didn't want to print. Either way, it was a waste of almost $3, which, with the job I have now and the rising cost of, well, everything, is a bigger deal than it used to be. But more annoying...I'd carefully checked to make sure each photo was properly framed, but when I got them, almost every photo was cropped. In some cases (landscape shots, wildlife shots, etc.), it didn't matter but there were shots of people and pets (bff's dogs) that had body parts chopped off.
So when I got an email asking me to take a survey about my latest order, I actually accepted. I rarely take surveys, only participating if I was exceptionally pleased (someone went above and beyond) or unexpectedly disappointed (photos missing body parts). But I took this survey and was only ever allowed to click on pre-written responses. Even clicking "other" when asked if I had any issues with the editing didn't lead to a screen asking me exactly what my issue was. Google Photos is a ginormous entity so I highly doubt any actual person will see my survey and reach out to me. Most likely, the computer will just roll my ratings right into all the other reviews and adjust the average. So my photo order was a waste of (a small amount of) money AND the survey essentially was a waste of my time.
