It went so much better than last year...
I started out on the Camino Viejo that starts in Pamplona through a valley, but I did a couple of detours through mountains (including one with a "vertical kilometre") and goes to Miranda de Ebro, where I took a GR hiking trail to meet up with the other branch of the Camino Vasco and ended in Haro...before going down to the province of Alicante to do a really beautiful variant of the Ruta de la Lana that goes through the mountains of Alicante and ended in Almansa on the Lana for the year. That one ranks among one of my faves. It starts from Villajoyosa/La Vila Joiosa, and I had a beautiful beach walk under a rainbow before starting it.
Right before the Lana variant, I was in my old home of València, but unfortunately during a red alert for heavy rains--after last year's flooding they're taking it very seriously. Fortunately it was just heavy rain and no flooding this time around, but I didn't get to do much there.
I later headed to Asturias for some local hikes, then took a road trip back to Girona, stopping daily at a place inaccessible via public transport for hiking or exploring...including La Vall de Boí in the Pyrenees. It's been on my bucket list for over a decade.
In Girona, I did a couple of Camino stages I missed last year when...by doing all the recommendations for walking with plantar fasciitis, I made things a million times worse and had to do half stages and ended it early. This year, by ignoring those recommendations and doing others, I was fine.
I no longer use any platform from Meta for reasons, so no pics on Instagram or Facebook, but I did use a platform to share trips, FindPenguins, which you can see without an account, if anyone wants to see pictures.
Hope everyone is doing well!
