violence against animals in books and I respect that. It's something I'm not a fan of either but I've been able to get through most of SGJ's books unfazed because he doesn't write the violence in a gratuitous way. It's never glamorized or wallowed around in but it's there. In the case of "The Buffalo Hunter Hunter", it definitely covers the time frame of the buffalo hunters nearly wiping the buffalo out to make way for the railroad.

Have you read "My Heart Is A Chainsaw". I think that's one you might can handle because I don't recall animal violence in it. But it has been a minute since I read it.
