we have a schedule of splitting thanksgiving between my family and his.

last year was his family, this year is mine. Mine is not doing a meal, my nephews are playing football and then they have to go to my sister's in-laws in the late afternoon. We'll HAPPILY make the meal here at home, then in the early afternoon go to my mom's for dessert (she doesn't like most of the meal part of Thanksgiving, she likes the pie part) because it's her birthday. then we may swing by our friend's house before coming home to watch a christmas movie.

MIL calls over the weekend and asks us to come to dinner. hubby reminds her that we were at their house last year, and this year we were going to see my family.

Her response? "Oh."

followed by, "they don't even COOK!'

then, "but WE NEVER SEEEEEEE YOUUUUUUUUUUU"

and you know what? if we could swing by for a slice of pie or cup of coffee, WE WOULD. But for MIL? if you aren't there for the whole meal - apps to meal to dessert to coffee, all separated by at least an HOUR? don't even bother.

why is she like this?! whhhhyyyyyyyyy every. single. year!
