When we hosted for the past 30 years we usually shot for turkey out of the oven at 5, carve at 5:30 and eat! We always invited people to show up for apps and cocktails any time after 3:30, but most would show up between 4 and 4:30. As others have said, trying to get it all done in time for a 1 or 2 pm table time....means you have to get up at 5am. No go. This year our restaurant reservation in for 4:30. Because we're a larger group we get our table for 2 hours (instead of 90 minutes).
