American TV shows being only 8-10 episodes. I was so used to network shows airing between 20-24 episodes a season. But I *do* understand that longer seasons = filler episodes, and while I'm the kind of viewer that can find something to enjoy in ANY episode of a show I like, no matter how little happens (plus I'm good with standalone episodes and don't need every single episode to further a storyline or build on the show's mythology), I can also appreciate shorter seasons.
I recently watched a couple shows on Netflix from start to finish (of their first seasons, anyways). Haunted Hotel was only 10 episodes long and left me wanting more, and not necessarily in a good way. OTOH, Leanne was 16 episodes and I thought all were pretty solid, if not spectacular.
