was down at the same time. Well, not down, exactly...it was running for others but I took a ridiculously long time to Google the error message and realize I needed to clear the cookies from the site <g>.
On a different topic...last week we were discussing "shrinkflation" and yesterday I ran across a marvelous example. After church, Dad wanted to hit up a small used car dealership to check out a vehicle he was mildly interested in. By now, he knows the drill: if he's going to drag me out to used car lots after church, he has to buy me lunch beforehand 😁 Early last week, I got some coupons in the mail for Burger King. Many of our BK franchises inexplicably closed in a short amount of time* but there's still one open near the car dealership so we ate lunch there. We used a coupon that was $6.99 for two Whopper Jrs. and two fries--drinks were separate. When the junior Whoppers came out, I seriously thought they'd given me the wrong thing because they were SMALL. Much smaller than I remember (I haven't had one in a couple years) and only a tiny bit bigger than a slider I might get at a sit down restaurant. Dad was actually pretty happy with that as he wasn't super hungry, and the fries were a decent portion, but good grief, I've seen sandwiches served on biscuits that were bigger.
* the BK one town over closed; that one I *did* know why. The manager left a sign on the door saying they were permanently closed because, and I quote, "I can't do this with only three workers". I've heard rumors that the other BKs, including the one in my tiny town, closed due to some shady business the owner--one guy who owned a number of local franchises--was conducting, but I never heard what exactly he did wrong.
