So one of the drawbacks of having a single family home is that we get people coming by the house all the time and ringing the bell to try and sell us something (usually working on the house, which let's be real I would NEVER hire someone just knocking on my door, I'd go through a trusted recommendation and someone with gobs of insurance). The other day someone rang the bell again, and I ordered this for our ring doorbell: [link] I love it, because if someone wants to ring the bell, they have to actively move the no soliciting sign to be able to push the bell.

Anyway.

Last night I hear a knock on the door. So the person had apparently seen the sign and thought the answer was to knock instead of ringing the bell. So I replied through the speaker on the ring camera, asking if I could help.

Well, this guy is wandering around the yard, and I can hear him talking to himself. "Are you in a window?" At one point he even said "Where is that voice coming from?" πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I even said a couple times "It's from the Ring." Finally "From the DOORBELL" got him to actually look at the camera. Then he started into some spiel about he was doing work for the neighbors, etc. (sure you were) and I stopped him and said no thank you, and look at the sign on the doorbell. Have a good night. He just said he was a flyer guy and wandered off.

But honestly the video is hilarious, because I don't know if this guy was just not bright or was high, because who doesn't know what a Ring doorbell is in this day and age? They're pretty much everywhere!!!

Also as an aside, when I was growing up I watched a LOT of cop and crime shows, and shows like Night Court. On them, there were always women that were supposed to be prostitutes being arrested and charged with solicitation (how did I know what a prostitute was? who knows). Around town, almost all stores and restaurants would have a sign up that said "No Solicitation/Soliciting", so as a result I thought my town must have had a HUGE problem with prostitution. I did not learn the other meanings of the word for many many years. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
