Taggert takes Sonny to the hospital

It had been 48 hours since the paramedics brought Alexis in. Taggert kept him cuffed for the first 16 hours until preliminary ballistic reports indicated that what Alexis said was true.

Zander's prints were found on the .22 caliber semi-automatic found near his body. Carly was shot with a .22, as was Alexis. Sonny's gun was a 9mm. The evidence clearly showed that Zander killed Carly and shot Alexis. Taggert had no choice but to release Sonny.

Alexis went straight into surgery. She'd lost a lot of blood. The bullet pierced her womb and nicked her unborn daughter, then lodged in her abdomen. It took Dr. Monica Quartermain more than 10 hours to remove the bullet and repair the damage. Mother and child were holding there own, but they weren't out of the woods yet.

Sonny refused to leave Alexis' side. He sat in her room holding her pale hand, leaving her side only when the doctors ordered it. He was pacing the halls now, while Dr. Quartermain checked on Alexis' progress. Watching him pace were two guards. One was a police officer. The other was one of Sonny's men. He was taking no chances with Alexis and their child.
