She got the test results

A nurse entered with the test results and handed them to Dr. Monica Quartermain. She scanned the monitors that hovered over Carly. They showed a steady strong heartbeat. They didn't tell the whole story. The tests showed that a bullet was still lodged perilously close to Carly's heart. Any sudden movement on Carly's part could cause the bullet to shift.

''Carly I need you to remain still. It is vitally important that you not move at all.''

''You know what? I don't care about that. I want to know about my baby!''

Monica paged through the test results, her eyes grew wide with wonder. ''Carly, these test show you're not pregnant!''

''THAT CAN'T BE!'' Flailing her arms, Carly sat up in her hospital bed. It was a fatal move. Her eyes began to flutter. Her arms fell limp at her side and her lifeless body fell back onto the bed. The wail of the heart monitor filled the room. Monica reached up and silenced the alarm and pulled a sheet over her head.
