News for the week of 05-May-2008
CBS took over the Daytime Emmy nominations (56), after the big announcement on ABC Daytime’s The View, April 30. CBS’s #1-rated soap, Y&R, won big with 17 nods… compared to OLTL’s 13. Only three ABC Daytime soap stars earned nominations, including OLTL’s relative newbie, Brian Kerwin (Charlie) for outstanding supporting actor. OLTL did net nominations for outstanding daytime drama, writing team, casting director and directing team, as well as several of the following under the technical achievement categories: outstanding achievement for costume design, multiple camera editing, hairstyling, music direction and composition, lighting direction and original songs “Chemistry,” “Little Starr,” and “You’re The Freak.” The 35th annual Daytime Emmy ceremony airs on ABC June 20. Three soap stars gamely tested products in Rachael Ray’s April 22nd talk show feature Human Lab: Soap Star Edition. John-Paul Lavoisier (Rex) joined AMC’s Rebecca Budig (Greenlee) and DOOL’s Nadia Bjorlin (Chloe) to see if, in his case, the SmartMouth mouthwash pump did what it advertised—provide fresh, clean breath for 24 hours. Lavoisier tested his breath out—after the 30-second rinse—with co-star Farah Fath (Gigi) in a long, sexy makeout session. While he was opening the package and figuring out the directions earlier in the day, Lavoisier was with both his on-screen kissing partners, Fath and Melissa Gallo Fumero (Adriana). Fath and Fumero said Lavoisier’s breath is generally okay, sometimes he has coffee breath. After the SmartMouth treatment, though, Fath testified to it’s being “pretty flawless!”

Dorian has an accomplice in the BE takeover. Tina Lord? We’ll find out for May Sweeps.
With Tina back for the summer, what about Cord Roberts? He’s not the one TPTB are trying to entice back. There’s another, but this guy’s been asking for a lot more dough than ABC Daytime can guarantee.
Don’t think just because David’s back in town, he’ll become an instant Buchanan. This reveal may take a while. The head writer hinted that it might not even happen until way after May Sweeps.
