J.R. approached David as the crowd began filing into the courthouse for David's trial. After J.R. told David he hoped he was convicted, David told J.R. that if he knew what was good for him, he'd be hoping for an acquittal. J.R. then figured out that David was blackmailing Adam and went to find him; but walked in on Adam and the judge kissing, with her robe pulled down. J.R. ran out-Adam went after him and told him he was doing this for J.R.'s own good and because he loved him. J.R. told Adam that he loved only himself, was as bad as David, and then ran out. J.R. went to the airport and as he inquired about a passport, Liza walked up behind him.
Mia spoke with David and said she expected an acquittal and he thanked her for her support. Leo and Vanessa talked with David and Vanessa expressed worry about the outcome of the trial, but David told her not to be concerned. Vanessa and Leo then discussed the fact that it seemed as though David was up to something.
Opal, distressed from Gillian's possession, met with her psychic. Ryan came in and tried to bribe the psychic to contact Gillian. He wouldn't take the $ but agreed to try to help Ryan. Jesse was chastising Gillian for possessing Opal and stopped her from answering when they heard the psychic. Jesse sent Gillian away then communicated with the psychic and told him there would be no more contact from Gillian, and he should tell Ryan that she was gone for good. Ryan grabbed the psychic angrily but Opal interceded. Ryan took her by the hand and they left together, although Opal protested.
Court then convened and David's lawyer entered a motion for dismissal, to which the observers in the courtroom laughed. The judge stated she didn't find anything funny and that she agreed there wasn't enough evidence for trial. Joe, Ruth, Jake, and Dixie watched in amazement as the charges were dismissed.
