All My Children Update for Friday, 22-Jul-2005

WHen Babe goes out to her car after work, some jerks whom she's refused to serve in the bar steal her car. Josh Madden tries to help her and tells her she must call the cops. But she tells him there's no point to doing that. She doubts they are real "career criminals". They look like a bunch of spoiled frat boys. And their rich mommies and daddies will just bail them out and the only lesson they'll learn from that is that money can buy you anything. SHe reflects on how Jamie worked so hard to build that car. ANd how getting somebody in legal trouble is not the issue. It's the principle of the matter for how some people have no respect for the hard work of others and how some have to earn their way in the world. Josh knows where to find the punks. He tells her that the only place they can go and drink is the beach. Babe and Josh overhear them laughing about how much fun it was to steal the car from the hardworking bartender. So funny that she will have to walk home. They talk about the "blond scank" and how they'd like to have some "fun" with her. But Josh goes up to them and tells them they must not talk that way about his boss's daughter. Hearing that, the frat boys instantly appaer afraid of Josh and of Babe and apologize. They are also shocked to learn that the daughter of a rich hot-shot would be bartending in a lowly establishment. Josh explains that his boss, Babe's rich daddy, wants his daughter to understand the value of hard work. He scares them off and puts them in their place. And he gets the keys back, noticing they left the keys in the car.

Dr. Madden comes to see Erica in her empty office. At first, she tells him she doesn't want to talk to him. She tells him he is the same man who threatened to arrest Greenlee and who had no respect for his son's choice to work for her. She's very upset about Ryan's death and she doesn't want him around. But he admits to her that he was wrong and that he'd like to help. SHe tells him that Ryan was her friend before he was Greenlee's husband. He was always there for her when she needed him. And now he's gone and she believes that she failed to be there for Ryan when he needed her.

Ryan, who is still alive and well and hiding in a shed where Zach is keeping him, overhears a lot of conversations of people who think he's dead. How convenient. Aiden comes by that very place to inform Kendall and Zach that he's found Ryan's sister, Erin. He first thought that she was dead but has confirmed she is alive and well. He tells them he needs to talk to Greenlee and let her know. Kendall tells him the last thing Greenlee needs is another "psycho" Lavery shoved in her face. But from inside the locked room, Ryan listens and later tells Zach that he must go and find his sister.

Kendall later has a vision about how it's so amazing that Ryan survived getting shot at Zach's casino. An entire mountain exploded upon him and killed Jonathan, but Ryan escaped from that. And she cannot believe that a silly accident in a motorcycle would kill him. SHe later has a flashback about conversations with Ryan where he told her he could not have a child because he would turn into his abusive father whether he wanted to or not. She, then, remembers Zach revealing that he staged his own death because he could not face the fact that he was a Cambias. ANd she concludes that very possibly the same thing has happened with Ryan. Ryan could not risk having a child because he was struck with the reality that he was the same family as his drunken, child-abusing daddy, rapist brother Braden and psycho serial-killer brother Jonathan. And when Ryan found out that he had a child, he had to stage his own death. SHe sees how that was not unlike Zach's behavior in pretending he died and later denying that Ethan was his son.

Adam tells Dixie he'd like to call a truce with her. He tells her that he believes that DNA might be right that she is JR's mother. He tells her he realizes that he has problems with his son and although he may not personally want her there, he knows that having her there will keep his son form going away. So he asks her to help him. WHen she leaves, however, he tells her he does not know whom she is but he knows she is not his son's mother.
