Julia is with Zach at the mausoleum staring that Edmund’s memorial plaque. She is mourning the death of her brother-in-law as well as her husband. She tells Zach that there is no way she will ever go back to the witness protections program. Being forced to live with a false identity, work at worthless jobs and have your freedom and your life taken from you is not the way to live. She tells him that her husband was not meant to live like that. He admits that he may have been responsible for her husband’s as well as Edmund’s death. And he tells her he will do one thing right. He loves Maria. And he wants to be able to make sure that if he ever sees her again, that he won’t have to tell her that her sister needed his help and he turned her away. He tells Julia that he will never cause her family any pain again. Julia finally begins to trust Zach and puts her arms around him.

Greenlee wakes up at the hospital, right after she’s had a dream that a nurse brings her her baby. Kendall appears and breaks the news to her that she had a miscarriage. At first, she does not want to belive it and wants to blame Dr. Madden. She tells Kendall, Jack and Erica that this could not have happened unless he’d done something spiteful in order to cause it. But they tell her that Dr. Madden did everything he could in order to save her baby. But it did not work. Dr. Madden talks to her and assures her that regardless of what she did in order to get herself pregnant, he would never do anything to prevent her from having her baby. And he mourns all losses, regardless. She asks him, in that case, if he can find more of Ryan’s sample so that she can try again. Jack privately admits to Erica that although he is sorry for his daughter’s loss, he is relieved that Ryan and any reminders of him are finally out of Greenlee’s life. Kendall then goes looking for Zach and catches him with Julia while Julia is hugging him.

JR tells Derek that he must arrest Jamie for attempted murder. Tad appears. Dixie informs JR that she had to let his stepfather and Jamie’s father know what is going on between them. She and Tad and Babe keep telling him that he so wants to believe that Jamie tried to kill him and Dixie. But Derek goes to investigate what could have happened to the car and comes back with the findings that there is no proof of improper maintenance nor that the brakes were tampered with. But JR refuses to let it go.

Dixie and Tad come up with a plan. They belive there is far more going on with JR than simply the suspicion that Jamie messed with the brakes. So they ask him to do a 5 minute role-=play with them, where JR gets to hear Tad role-play him and JR gets to come up with defenses for Babe and Jamie. Tad first talks the way JR would about how babe is a tramp, ruined his life and ran off with his brother. JR attempts to give a “rebuttal”. But cannot. Tad tells JR that he knows that throughout JR’s life, he’s been vilified for everything while Jamie has always been known as the “golden boy” who never gets into trouble. And now, believing Jamie has done wrong and having no proof is more than JR can take. JR doesn’t want to listen and goes out the door. But when Tad is alone with Dixie, he tells her that there was “no evidence” of fowl-play in what happened to her car. But that does not mean that there was no fowl play. He tells her he really does understand what is going on with JR. And he suggests the possibility that maybe somebody really did mess with her brakes.

Jamie tells Babe that he refuses to go away to school while JR is reeking havoc all over town and he cannot be there to protect her and society in general from him. She tells him she is not afraid of JR. She has people that care about her. And there is nothing JR can do. He tells her JR can get her fired from her job, lose her her rights to see her child. And God knows what else he can do. And he tells her he will not let her make a “noble sacrifice” for him. He’s not going to let her break it off with him if he refuses to go to school. But she reminds him that she does not need his permission to break up with him. And she tells him unless he finishes school, she refuses to become Mrs. James Martin.
