All My Children Update for Friday, 26-Aug-2005

Jonathan is having a delusion that Ryan is his daddy ready to beat him. As Ryan and Erin stand by him, he tells “daddy” that he didn’t mean to do anything wrong, promises to be good and backs away from him. Jonathan obsesses about being the “good little boy” for daddy. He tells him he will get his paper and slippers and make him comfortable to watch television and get him his beer. He obsesses about making every little detail perfect. Ryan and Erin watch their brother seeing Ryan as Daddy. Jonathan freaks and spazzes out and Erin tells Ryan that THIS is what he left behind. This is what their brother has turned into. And he is really sadly mistaken if he thinks he can come back and “play the hero” now.

Garrett comes to see Danielle at Fusion. After Simone has heard Dani’s “concerns”, she takes Greenlee aside to ask her to “watch” him. Greenlee asks why he needs to be watched. Is he a clepto? Right when Garrett comes within “ear’s shot” of their conversation, Danielle introduces him to them. They talk business and small talk. He departs and Simone asks Greenlee what she thinks. Does it look to her like this guy has the hots for Danielle? Greenlee can’t really figure out whether or not to assume that this dude is a PERV but asks Danielle if she’s noticed Garrett getting “close” to her after her break-up with Reggie. She has a theory about pervs “moving in” on young girls after breaking up and being vulnerable. Danielle really cannot say whether or not that was the case nor pin down anything obvious. And she concludes that if she is falsely accusing Garrett, then she is the freak. Not him. Greenlee tells Danielle that sh eneeds to confront this and not cover it up. Right then, David comes to see Greenlee and tells her that he knows what she is up to. She tells him that she miscarried and cannot have another baby. He knows that the only way that can happen is if somebody else carries the baby for her so he asks her who it is. Right then, Kendall appears and David concludes that his question has been answered. He tells them that Erica asked him to “investigate” this little secret for him. He tells Greenlee that he promises not to tell her anything but he knows that there were fertility drugs in the syringe and that Kendall must be the surrogate. He tells them both that he promises not to interfere.

Kendall goes to the police station ready to rat Zach and Julia out. But when she talks to Mimi and Derek, she chickens out. Derek tells her she needs to tell him where Julia is so that Julia can be safe. But she cannot get it out as to where Julia is. They argue amongst themselves as to how to practice effective law enforcement. Mimi urges Kendall to protect Julia because her life is in danger. But Kendall asks if a “third party” who is hiding her could get in trouble if she enables them to find her. And Mimi is able to conclude that the “third party” hiding her is Kendall’s husband, Zach Slater. Mimi works on Kendall, asking how she can live with herself and face Julia’s family knowing that she is responsible for Julia’s death. Derek asks his ex wife if this is her idea of “interrogation”. He tells Kendall that he remembers her previous “rap sheet” and can throw the book at her if she obstructs justice. She tells them she wants immunity from whoever is hiding Julia and they must promise never to tell anybody that she told them where Julia is because if word gets out that she told them, than her life is over. They tell her that they promise to meet her conditions but only if the information they give her about Julia is accurate. Garrett then comes to visit Mimi.

While Julia and Zach are alone in the house, they hear somebody enter and hide. They find out it’s Sam and Lily. He asks her why she is no longer talking about ghosts. He remembered not long ago, she was very adamont about ghosts and now she doesn’t say a word about it. She tells him that she remembers his telling her he did not want to hear her talk about ghosts any more. So she stopped talking about it because she cares about him and knows it would upset him to hear about it the same way he cares about her and would not want to upset her. She asks if she “got it right” or if there is something she does not understand because she has autism spectrum disorder. Zach and Julia observe them. They both talk about how they enjoy being together and that they think they fit together really well. When they depart, Zach tells Julia that’s another reason why she cannot be there. Sam and Lily come by there all the time. They might unintentionally lead the thugs to find her.

Erin “Plays” for Ryan as if he is daddy and she is his little girl asking him to have a tea party. Although Ryan is not saying or doing anything, she pleads with him not to hurt Jonathan. She then tells Ryan it was all his fault. She breaks down crying and asking him why he did not come back and save them. He tells her he wants to now. But she tells him it’s too damn late. All he can do for them now is to stay dead. He tells her that he cannot change what he already failed to do so many years ago. But he wants to help Jonathan and get him some help. But she tells him that she can help Jonathan by herself. And she reveals that it is she who feels responsible for what happened to him. Every time Jonathan got a poisonous sandwich, she got a doll. Every time he got physically or verbally abused, she got coddled. She feels it is her responsibility to take care of him and Ryan cannot help either one of them any more. He tells her that he did everything he could to help Jonathan. And it did not work. He needs help that neither of them can provide for him. She asks if that means they should hand him over to a loony bin. He admits that he really doesn’t know what to do.

Dani takes Greenlee’s advice and goes to talk to Garrett and find out what is up with him.

Zach and Julia seem ok. But right then, he notices how odd it is for a guy to be mowing the lawn when it’s already been mowed. And right then, machine gun fires blow up Wildwind. It looks like THEY will be ok. Obviously, the writers don’t want either of those two characters to be killed off. But Wildwind will be history.
