Does it say this is a little town in Canada? No! Just a small town where everyone knows all about everyone else, and folks keep their doors unlocked in case a friend stops by. But the main character likes her privacy so she keeps hers DOUBLE locked.
Yep, sounds about right. I will say, the name of the town (Fletcher's Grove) strikes me as Murder, She Wrote reference, so it's going to be easy to just kinda make it... random northeast/midwest American small town. And the most recent season had some stuff that made no sense to actually be happening in Canada (mostly around how our post-secondary process works) so I don't think this will be a tough shift. They will just change some of the details of her backstory. I'm very sure the current version has an Ontario version and a Quebec version already.
while the setting does not scream Canada, the language/phrasing is definitely not what I would associate with American TV. Now, I have not watched a lot of original Canadian programming - for whatever reason, a lot of the shows I'm drawn to are from New Zealand/Tasmania/Australia or rando Irish/Scottish limited run series.
Hmm. That's interesting! I probably won't spot that because I tend not to notice stuff that stick out to Americans, since it's normalized for me.
I have to say, a half hour in and I'm intrigued enough to see if I can find the other episodes On Demand!!
I think it's cute in audiobook form. Definitely good to put on while you wrap presents, I imagine. I suspect I will miss Coby Smulders, though.
