It’s nice that SM, at least, had a holiday dinner for you, which I assume the company paid for.
From what I understand, that was an aberration. Usually, SM holds the holiday dinner at this same restaurant and tells everyone she'll pay for their drinks and an app for the table to share while everyone pays for their entrees. In years past, some of my co-workers have split a dinner to save some $$$. But this year, our store won not one but several competitions (and look at that...pitting stores against one another) and the regional manager gave SM a $100 gift card for this particular restaurant. Now really, $100 doesn't go terribly far when split 8 ways (in the case of Sunday's celebration, only 7 ways, as M (84 year old firecracker) was feeling under the weather), and SM was already planning on picking up part of the check, so she went ahead and picked up all of it. Had I known she was going to do that, I would've ordered the steak <g>.
The ship model is in my sister’s living room but not exactly on display. It’s on the floor in a corner sticking out of a big basket at an angle. Good thing she doesn’t have a cat right now. When we get around to repairing it, she will likely move it to the top of a bookshelf to display it. I can’t believe my dad had the patience to build it. He didn’t do much of that kind of thing. It must have been pretty amazing to sail on the real Danmark.
Amazing indeed!
