I didn’t dislike any of the final four as people but I think Rachel, by far, deserved to win.

I definitely struggled with Sam at one point but he grew on me. You can tell a lot about how someone handles adversary and while I think he can have some initial responses that are pouty and entitled, he also showed a decent ability to recognize his own BS. He dealt with being humbled decently well. I'm seeing this in his post-game interviewed, because he definitely biffed it a few times.

She played a great game, a much better game than the others. IMO, Sam didn’t deserve to win any more than Teeny or Sue. He was never any more of a threat than Sue or Teeny. Sam did amuse me by trying new foods (like pineapple, kiwi and watermelon) while on Survivor. LOL, what are the odds of broadening your food experience while on Survivor? 🍍🥝🍉

The one thing I know Sam had that I don't know Sue or Teeny had, was someone's vote. I was stunned that Caroline voted for Rachel. I agree with her vote, but that vote can determine the larger second-place prize... I think Teeny might have gotten Sol's for that reason, if she'd made it. But clearly Sue didn't have someone's vote.

I was surprised that Kyle voted for Sam. His reason seemed to be more that he really likes Sam more than he thought Sam deserved to win.

Honestly, yep. I also couldn't really parse if he knew he was giving him second place or if he just was like "I'm going to vote for the dude who I like" -- which if fair, I guess. But he might have thought, like me, that Caroline was voting for Sue.

I’m guessing that Kyle knew that Rachel was going to win and he voted Sam to insure that Sam would get the second place money. Sue seemed gracious and just happy to have had the opportunity to show that a 58 year old can have the stamina for the challenges and being out there for 26 days.

Sue has annoyed me a lot all season long, but I enjoyed her at the end.

I liked Kyle a lot but felt like he was a smidge dismissive of Rachel matching his 4 individual immunity wins.

Yeah, I also like Kyle and I also thought that was some BS. Though I do think they might have edited a bit so that it felt competitive. Rachel just seemed so far ahead in terms of gameplay and driving her own story than Sue and Sam.

I felt bad for Teeny because of the way she just missed final three. But she had no chance of winning the million. Still, losing the fire challenge via the luck of the wind had to be so disappointing. I would have preferred Rachel to refrain from coaching/cheering Teeny during the fire building though.

I have ranted about this. It seems ridiculous to me that it could be decided by wind. I respect that Sam really owned how much he just got lucky in his exit press. He only saw how much it was luck last night and I respect that he didn't try to turn it into something other than sitting in the right place.

I will say, Sam should probably take Rachel cheering for Teeny has a compliment. It suggests she thought he was the tougher person to beat.

The finale was anticlimactic once Rachel won her fourth individual immunity. It was hard for the editors to create any drama after that. But I’m happy that she won.

I think they did a decent job, honestly. But maybe at the cost of some people looking very dismissive of Rachel only to then vote for her. So they probably weren't actually seeing her quite the way they came off in the edit.

However, on the merits, I agree. It seemed like Rachel was the winner weeks ago. and indeed. She was.

ETA: If Sam was being truthful about never practicing fire, before or during his stint on Survivor, I think that is pretty dumb. At 47 seasons in, I don’t understand anyone who gets to play on Survivor not making sure that they can make fire before they even get there.

Also from Sam's exit press -- he sure was being truthful! He said it was both being stupid and having some hubris. I think what we saw on the show was legit -- he got there and then was suddenly like "OH my GOD, that was so important and I didn't do it! I'm so stupid!" -- but he dealt with it.

He just also got, I cannot say it enough, so STUPIDLY lucky with the wind. I fully expect Jeff to defend the wind for months after this before finally, three years from now, admitting it was a problem. That tends to be how he rolls. But maybe he'll surprise me.
