Granted, none of the restaurants in this town are cheap but we could've eaten somewhere more central to where everyone works, since only two of us worked that day.
I’m not clear about whether the $100 gift card that the RM gave to your SM was meant for your SM alone and she chose to share it or if the RM meant the $100 to be for the store’s entire staff.
TBH, I'm not sure either. Was it a reward to the SM for having awesome employees who raised the most amount of money in the district for breast cancer research AND had the highest UPT (units per transaction) for the third quarter AND was the only store in the district who not only reached but exceeded projected sales for the third quarter? Or was it for the people who made that happen?
Most of my career was spent working in the nonprofit world, but my employers were always very generous with holiday parties. Maybe I was luckier than I realized.
I feel that way when I think back to how we celebrated at the bindery. On the Friday closest to Christmas (or before, if Christmas Eve or Day was on Friday that year), we'd work half a day, then drive to a local restaurant (different ones throughout the years) and have a nice, catered lunch. We'd play games (which I didn't care for but there were usually prizes involved) and the boss would give a VERY short speech and people who'd been with the company for a milestone number of years got recognized. And then we'd get to leave at least 30 minutes sooner than we would've had we been at work, and often sooner. AND we were paid for our time. At my next job, there was a potluck meal but the main dish(es) and drinks were provided by the company, and we got paid to be off between Christmas and New Year's Day.
