Mostly because her rope was literally burning before the flame -- which she had gotten pretty tall -- bent away from the it via the wind. I've had a day or two to absorb it, but I haven't seen anyone, including Jeff, Teeny or Sam -- say the wind didn't decide it. They just seem less bothered by it than I am. But that's probably because I fundamentally do not like the final four fire-making challenge and I have enjoyed this show significantly less since it started.

that's what I mean - her rope was burning and if the flames had been high enough it would have continued to burn, in spite of the wind. That's why I thought it was interesting that they edited in the part where Jeff talks about the husk, and how there wasn't a lot of it. And at one point, Teeny even turns to Rachel as if to ask "why hasn't it caught, yet?" and THAT was the crack in the window.

I am certainly not saying that the wind was NOT a big factor - it was HUGE, but Sam's foot in the door was Teeny's very spread out fire.

If you've seen someone with a breakdown, though, point me at it. I'm open to it.

oh, this is all the result of the debate between Hubby and I - we don't tend to watch a lot of recapping shows or podcasts.

Hubby and I talked about this at great length last night while debating the benefit of the fire-making challenge.

Heh. How does he feel about it?

We both felt that Teeny could have survived the wind if her fire had been tall enough. Sam had HUGE issues getting his fire going, but once it took, he piled on the sticks THEN put more of the husks on top, getting that flame closer to the string.

He likes the fire-building because it throws wrenches into plans to take a goat/alliance promises that leave 'deserving' players shut out. He considers it a great equalizer.

I am generally agnostic because, like the shot in the dark, the players know how it goes, they know the risks/its part of the game. i can be very black and white when i don't particularly care one way or the other about the players themselves.

Ask me again if someone I like goes home because of rain/wind/fire.....LOL
