at the corpse in the last days.
I had lunch with bff today and then meant to go over to Gabe's (local deep discount store). But I got distracted when I saw the Big Lots right next to Gabe's and the sign saying they're closing for good in 11 days. I stopped in "just to look around"...and left $62 poorer. BUT for $62, I got a new winter comforter set (I've been actively hating my current winter comforter for the last couple years), new sheets to match it, a new pillow upon which to lay my head (the one I'm currently sleeping on came from the final sale at Bed, Bath and Beyond and for some reason, all the stuffing has shifted to one side), 5 toys to donate to our town's Christmas toy drive, a long-sleeved Christmas shirt, an Easter T-shirt, two pairs of Easter socks, a double wick candle in a really cool seashell bowl, a new pair of reading glasses (with case, which I likely won't use), a matching pencil case and coin purse (the latter will be a birthday gift for good church friend; the former will be added to my stash of goodies for the Operation: Christmas Child shoeboxes I fill every year) and two pairs of kid's blunt-tipped scissors (also for the shoeboxes). Not too shabby.
I'm waiting for better sales at JoAnn Fabric before I scavenge there but I might wind up out of luck. I went last weekend to JF; sales prices were still only 20-30% off but people were already snatching up merchandise. I like JF, especially their paper selection (great patterns plus I often got 10 sheets for $3) and their beads, and I will miss them when they're gone.
