Our mechanic told his wife, when she was looking to buy a new car, that she had to get either a Toyota or a Honda. Anything else and she would be taking it to a competitor for any service needs.
Both Hondas and Toyotas will last forever and not have a lot of issues. Last year one of my high school friends posted on FB that they finally had to replace their Honda....can't remember the model, might have been CRV or maybe a Civic....anyway they had 299,500 miles on it! And a friend of hers chimed in that they had their Honda for slightly over 300,000 miles too!
We bought a new Toyota Highlander in late 2019. It was our first new vehicle in a long time (we tend to buy 3 year old off-lease cars). We use it to drive back and forth to Florida, so we wanted to have a reliable car that we could rack up the miles on. My daughter has an older Toyota Rav4. We recently decided to give her my husband's car to trade in along with her car to get a new hybrid Rav4. His car sits in the driveway 90% of the time and we rarely need a second car anymore. It didn't make sense to keep paying insurance for a car we rarely needed to use. She actually got a good deal and will be getting a new car when it comes into the dealer next month!
