Thanksgiving was a long day but the food was SO good if I do say so myself (I cooked 95% of it, lol). The turkey was amazing, this was the second year I brined it and it was delicious.
Earlier in the week I took Jack to get his braces off and then we finished up our Angel kid shopping and then saw Zootopia 2, which I really enjoyed. I love the first one, this was a worthy sequel. We also had his parent/teacher conference last Monday and his teacher was very complimentary, he's doing really well and had all As his first semester. I really like his teacher, too.
Baking did not really get done, I made three batches of cookies that kind of turned out. Jack and I need to get started on baking some more this week, our Christmas party is next Saturday and I had planned to have all the cookies done before Thanksgiving.
We've done a bit of decorating - Mr. Kris is not a fan of ladders so he kind of half assed some lights outside and I'm going to drag out the bigger ladder this weekend and put them up right because I don't like it. It was fine when it was his Halloween lights, but for Christmas, no. We also have to figure out how to hang up my snowflake lights and if there's enough of them to string across the front of the house, plus we have to clean out the gutter over the bay window. It's been clogged since we moved in.
After the watch presentation on Monday, I went to see Wicked: For Good. It was fine. I have never seen the musical, just listened to the music, so I had a basic understanding of what was going to happen. I don't know, I liked the first one a lot more. After the movie, I had a couple hours before I had a mani/pedi scheduled, so I did a little more Christmas shopping. And Bath and Body Works had an excellent sale going on, 40% off everything in store. I brought up a bunch of things and had been in line, and realized I should have picked up two of one item. So I asked the sales clerk to ring up two for me and I'd just snag the second one on the way out, and she said oh no I'll go grab one. Which was fine. I got home and yesterday I took everything out of the bag and there was only one (it was a moisturizing body wash). I think she misunderstood me, that there was something wrong with the one I had picked up, and I meant I just wanted to buy two instead of just one. Wish I'd looked in the bag! I was buying some hand sanitizers and some hand cream too so I didn't realize that I hadn't been charged for two. Oh well. Means I won't be saving one for myself, I probably don't really need it anyway. Or I can wait until after Christmas to get it.
Speaking of after Christmas, I really wanted to get a new tree - BJs had one on sale for half off plus a $20 coupon, so it came to around $110. 7.5 feet tall and looked really nice. Mr. Kris said "hey how about we stop spending all the money we have and wait until after Christmas" so I grudgingly realized he's right. We're not going to buy more lights now, either, that's going to be after Christmas. Which should be fun since we'll be in NC, hopefully the 50% off sales will be online too.
Oh and on Friday we went to the Festival of Trees and had fun and I did buy a new wreath (do not tell my mom, she made my old one but this one had gingerbread houses on it!!!!! I couldn't resist, plus I'm pretty sure the last one she made wouldn't fit between the door and the storm door and I don't think it's weatherproof to put outside, and it has a creepy elf on it that I don't like.). we also hit up Ikea for a few things and then World Market, I found a gingerbread house bath mat (which I have to put over my regular mat because I didn't realize until we got home that there isn't any gripper on the bottom of the mat so it moves if you step on it 🙄) and a gingerbread house mat for the front door.
Mr. Kris might have a point when it comes to shopping.
