Old Lady Rant #1: I miss landlines and answering machines. I used to come home, see the light on the machine blinking, press "play" and listen to the message. Now my phone informs me I have a voicemail so I have to dial voicemail, type in my password and then spend at least 30 seconds listening to an incredibly monotonous voice tell me what day I missed the call (I'm not terribly vigilant in checking my voicemail <g>), what time I missed the call and who it was from, NOT by naming a name but by oh so slowly speaking the 10 digits of the caller's phone number *sigh*. It's possibly different for others with better phones--I have a Pixel 6a, and Dad, who goes through the same thing when he has a voicemail, has a flip phone from Tracfone. Oddly enough, my previous phone, which was less smart than my current phone, let me know I had a voicemail, then all I had to do was go to voicemail and press "play" to hear it. I've tried to figure out how to do that on my current phone but so far, I've been unsuccessful.

Do you have AT&T as your cell phone carrier? We do and they somewhat recently (and annoyingly) changed their voice mail. We used to have either regular voice mail or visual voice mail. I preferred regular VM and my daughter preferred visual VM. Regular VM would play your message.....it would say, "you have one unheard message from <name in contacts> or <unknown number>". Then after you heard the message it would say, "press 9 to save message, press 7 to erase message". NOW....they completely got rid of visual VM and the new regular VM is as you describe and then as soon as the message is done playing it says, "message saved". It doesn't freaking give you a choice! So if you want to delete the message you have to go through the whole menu to replay saved messages and hit 7 as soon as the message starts to (re)play. SO ANNOYING!!!!!

Old Lady Rant #2: can the moment for torn jeans please be over? I already have a LOT of trouble finding jeans I like (I mentioned this recently); size 10 is a bit tight but size 12 a bit loose. I'm a bit tall for "average" length jeans but a bit short for "tall" length jeans. I don't want a high or low waist. I don't want skinny jeans or wide leg jeans. I don't want to pay over $20 for jeans (I mostly look at deep discount stores or on sales racks). I'm currently looking for a pair of light wash jeans but almost everything I've seen so far has holes in them. I didn't like "hole-y" jeans when they first debuted, and my opinion hasn't changed. I expected them to be the "it" style for a couple months but it's been YEARS now and they're still going strong. I miss when jeans were sold intact and holes in them were EARNED over time.

Not sure if you have this where you are (and are a member), but I've been finding my jeans at BJ's Warehouse lately. And sometimes at Costco too. We have memberships to both because we generally use BJ's down in FL (no Costco close by) and Costco in PA (closer/less traffic). Also in FL the BJ's has cheaper gas, but the BJ's near us in PA doesn't have gas. And in PA our Costco has cheaper gas. Anyway, I've been finding decent jeans there. And sometimes Walmart (but not as often, they seem to be phasing out a lot of their clothing)
