Clearing your browser's cache

If you're using a web browser not listed, see your browser's documentation or online help for instructions on how to clear your browser's cache or temporary files folder.

Netscape Navigator or Communicator 4.0 (Macintosh)

  1. From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
  2. Click the triangle next to Advanced to display the Advanced categories.
  3. Click Cache.
  4. Click Clear Disk Cache Now.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Under "Page in cache is compared to page on network," click Every Time.
  7. Click OK.
  8. From the File menu, choose Quit.
  9. Restart Netscape and see if the problem happens again.

Netscape Navigator or Communicator 4.0 (Windows)

  1. From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
  2. Click the plus sign next to Advanced to display the Advanced categories.
  3. Click Cache.
  4. Click Clear Disk Cache.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Click Clear Memory Cache.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Under "Document in cache is compared to document on network," click Every Time.
  9. Click OK.
  10. From the File menu, choose Exit.
  11. Restart Netscape and see if the problem happens again.

Netscape Navigator 2.0 or 3.0 (Macintosh)

  1. From the Options menu, choose Network Preferences.
  2. Click the Cache tab.
  3. Click Clear Disk Cache Now.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Next to Check Documents, click Every Time.
  6. Click OK.
  7. From the File menu, choose Quit.
  8. Restart Netscape and see if the problem happens again.

Netscape Navigator 2.0 or 3.0 (Windows)

  1. From the Options menu, choose Network Preferences.
  2. Click the Cache tab.
  3. Click Clear Disk Cache Now.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Click Clear Memory Cache Now.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Next to Verify Documents, click Every Time.
  8. Click OK.
  9. From the File menu, choose Exit.
  10. Restart Netscape and see if the problem happens again.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 (Windows)

  1. From the View menu, choose Internet Options.
  2. Click the General tab.
  3. In the Temporary Internet Files box, click Delete Files.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Click Settings.
  6. Under "Check for newer versions of stored pages", click Every visit to the page.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Click OK.
  9. From the File menu, choose Exit.
  10. Restart Internet Explorer and see if the problem happens again.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 (Macintosh)

  1. From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
  2. Click Advanced.
  3. Next to Update Pages, click Always.
  4. Click Empty Now.
  5. Click OK.
  6. From the File menu, choose Quit.
  7. Restart Internet Explorer and see if the problem happens again.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 (Windows)

  1. From the View menu, choose Options.
  2. Click the Advanced tab.
  3. In the Temporary Internet Files box, click Settings.
  4. Under "Check for newer versions of stored pages", click Every visit to the page.
  5. Click Empty Folder.
  6. Click Yes.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Click OK.
  9. From the File menu, choose Exit.
  10. Restart Internet Explorer and see if the problem happens again.

America Online 3.0 (Macintosh)

  1. From the Members menu, choose Preferences.
  2. Click the Web icon.
  3. Click Empty Cache.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Log off and restart AOL and see if the problem happens again.

America Online 3.0 (Windows)

  1. From the Members menu, choose Preferences.
  2. Click the WWW icon.
  3. Click the Advanced tab.
  4. Click Settings.
  5. Click Every visit to the page.
  6. Click Empty Folder.
  7. Click Yes.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Close the Preferences window.
  11. Log off and restart AOL and see if the problem happens again.

America Online 4.0 (Macintosh)

  1. From the My AOL menu, choose Preferences.
  2. Click the WWW icon.
  3. Click Empty Cache Now.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Log off and restart AOL and see if the problem happens again.

America Online 4.0 (Windows with Internet Explorer 4.0)

  1. From the My AOL menu, choose Preferences.
  2. Click the WWW icon.
  3. Under Temporary Internet Files, click Settings.
  4. In the Settings dialog box, click Every visit to the page.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Click Delete Files.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Close the Preferences window.
  10. Log off and restart AOL and see if the problem happens again.
