while they are waiting for their asylum applications to be processed. But there are almost certainly some who come knowing both how ridiculously long it takes to process asylum applications and that theirs will likely be denied but, in the meantime, maybe they can find a way to stay without asylum status. Once denied asylum status, they would be illegal if they stay.

The main point I was trying to make though is that, here in NYC at least, they are getting a lot more help than American citizens are getting. I’m trying to understand those American citizens’ anger.

BTW, one of the reasons I focused on this is because today it was announced that this debit card system for migrants will end at the end of this year. It’s not the debit card that allows them to make choices of what food to buy that is the issue. It’s the amount of money they are being given compared to what poor Americans are getting.
