Nearly every recipe I have calls for around 165 degrees for nearly everything. Lower for steaks, depending on how you want it cooked. I think maybe 180 for dark meat chicken or turkey.

I understand the frustration of multiple recipes not agreeing on how to cook something. I'd recommend a good standard cookbook, like Better Homes and Gardens or a similar one and use it to look up cook times for certain things. I've had my Better Homes and Gardens cookbook for probably 30 years and it's a great resource.
