the job. I'm Gen X through and through; the stereotypical Gen X-er has always seen work as a means to do what you love (and pay the bills), and that's how I view work. If I wind up loving what I do, great! If I don't, eh, it's an income.

I almost said no due to two different things that happened this morning. First, Dad--who has remained utterly silent this entire time I've been debating whether to take the job--told me almost out of the blue that taking a job because you "need something to do" is a bad reason to take that job. He then told me (again) about a job he applied for shortly after he was let go from IBM; they loved him and wanted him to join their team but the job started way too early in the morning for Dad, so he declined. Ultimately he got something else more to his liking down the line so it worked out.

The second thing that happened--I called the store manager at the time she asked me to call and was told she was "with a client" and would call me back. It took her over an HOUR to call back. Had she waited much longer, I would've told her "no", figuring if she can't manage her time better, or if she values my time that little, maybe I don't want to work there. But call me back she did, and she was very apologetic so...yes, I'll take the job.
