Monday afternoon, the glass and windows guys showed up to replace the encapsulated window in my daughter's door. It had been broken over a year ago when the person cutting my yard had accidentally thrown a rock. I'm not sure if that was caused by the weed cutter or a lawn mower. Either way, I'd taped up the window, but, eventually the tape began to fail and the tiny chips began to fall out onto the stoop. The guys were here for less than 30 minutes, but they got the job done.
Today, the crews were here. The drywallers rang my doorbell around 7:15 and said they were here to install the drywall. I told the guy that the drywall was supposed to be here the day before but it's not here, so I don't have anything for you to do. He pointed over his shoulder at the truck that had...the drywall. They came with their stuff. Okay...I locked the dogs inside, let them bring their truck...make that two...by the time I came back after mass, there were four vehicles and a large trailer in my yard. (My backyard isn't really that big.)
They got all the drywall done except for the mudding of the seams. They put on all the corner metal pieces around the windows, the framing for the doors, cut out all the outlets, openings for the lights in the ceilings, and for the switches on the walls. It looks like they did it with very little waste with exact measurements, and didn't seem to have a lot of waste left over.
Meanwhile, the other guy who does the framing and stuff arrived and reframed the door that was on backwards, removed the encapsulated window and the dog door, and reinstalled the door after the flip. It seems to work. The dogs like it.
In other news, I got a message on Facebook. Someone is interested in buying my range and over-the-range microwave oven. First/Only bite. The person offered $50 less than I listed, but it did say OBO (and I'd planned to give them back $50 because they'll have to hire a plumber and get some work done to install it). The person made contact later and asked about having it converted from natural gas to propane. I called my plumber and asked for an estimate. They'd have to see the set up. I passed along the information. It may fall through. Whatever.
The workers are gone for the day. The dogs get to roam. All is right or really good with the world.
