From: mtczajka@aol.com (MTCzajka) Subject: PC: Monday Update 6/2 Date: 2 Jun 1997 16:53:11 GMT [Let me start by saying that I am thrilled to see a wheelchair bound actor in a soap, especially since he is treated as just another actor and not a plot device who will miraculously be able to walk within a month!! Now on to my first update!] The opener is very similar to General Hospital’s - pictures of each actor with background scenes and ending with the group shot that has been in all the commercials. The show starts with Karen at the police station. The cop interviewing her is concerned and asks if she has someone to talk to - she tells him that her husband will be thrilled to hear that she stripped her way out of a hostage situation. Joe (the doctor brother) tries to calm her, but she leaves. The EMT brother comes in and they chat. EMT asks if that was Karen Wexler he saw leaving and opines that she is one tough cookie. Joe thinks she just hides her fear - leading him to flashback to playing Marco Polo as kids and Karen being afraid of the dark. The bothers return home and are stunned to discover that someone has been in their house. It’s worse than a break-in - the place is all...clean. They both yell “Ma!” and she comes out. She saw it all on TV and is relieved that they are okay. She tells Joe someone is there to see Joe - it’s Alan Quartermaine. They stare grimly at one another. Karen goes over to Gail and Lee’s who are very happy to see their grand- daughter. She tells them about Cooper and the hostage situation. She tells them that she is the one who took his place and tells her grandfather that he already knew that. Lee tries to defend himself but Karen is not happy. Gail takes Karen’s side. Lee says that Cooper has a history of mental problems and he would have cracked anyway. Karen goes on about her past as a stripper (seeming to equate stripping to psychopathically holding people hostage and firing off an automatic weapon at random). They call her family - she says she’s a mistake that their son made. She tells them she’s leaving PC, but hesitates when Lee tells her Scotty is in PC. Scott is berating Lucy who is upset that he is accusing her instead of looking for Serena. The Feds want Mac and Kevin out of the room, Mac gets summoned by the Mayor and he and Kevin leave. The Feds let Scotty harass Lucy. She tells him she can’t say where she was because it’s personal. Scott tries to appeal to sentiment, holding up a blanket and stuffed toy of Serena’s, Lucy tearfully insists that she doesn’t have Serena. Scott gets a call from Lee who says that his daughter is at their house, shaken from her ordeal but okay. Scott tells the Feds to hold Lucy while he checks things out and rushes off. While Gail and Lee argues about his interference, Karen calls Jagger and tells his machine that she needs to talk to him. After hanging up, she tells them that Jagger is distant even when they’re together. Scott arrives and is upset that they dragged him over there just to see Karen. Karen is hurt at this reaction and he apologizes. He tells her his other daughter is missing. Lee and Gail are alarmed, but Karen appears unconcerned about her sister and tells him that she’ll never bother him again. He leaves and is run down by a car while crossing the street. Lee, Gail, and Karen hear the impact and rush out to an unconscious Scott (Cliffhanger). Lucy is hungry, but the Feds won’t let her get anything to eat. They accuse her of panicking and dropping Serena at the Baldwin’s. For some reason, no one mentions that Lucy spent the last couple hours trapped in an elevator. After a while, the FBI’s get nicer and tell her it’ll be better for her if she talks. She tells them that Scott will realize that she would never take Serena once he gets her from her grandparents.
