From: mtczajka@aol.com (MTCzajka) Subject: PC: Monday update for 7/21 Date: 24 Jul 1997 17:31:45 GMT Eve is teasing a pouting Chris about how one couple gets engaged and then other couples start to get ideas. Meanwhile, Frank and Julie are slow dancing to "I'll Be There" by the Jackson 5 (featuring Michael with nose #1). Chris reminds Eve that he paid her $500 to keep them apart. Eve opines that his feelings for Julie are more than self-interest - could it be love? He tells her she is incapable of real feelings for anyone. Scene switches to Serena asking Scott if he'll ever be in love again. He evades the question by talking about his love for his parents, and her, etc. She clarifies the type of love she means, which leads him to regret teaching her how to speak. He knocks on the door they are standing next to and Karen answers. She tells the two that Jagger is coming to PC. Serena wonders why Jagger doesn't live there. Scott warns Karen to answer since she's been on a love kick. Serena tells Karen that Scott is starting to love someone - Karen. Karen and Scott both smile. Karen tells Serena about moving to a new neighbourhood and being scared, not knowing anyone, but that she made a best friend on her first day of school. Serena asks if Karen will be her best friend. Scott leaves to get ice cream for his daughters. Karen asks about Serena's statement about Scott liking her. "Loves", Serena corrects her, and also calls him "our" Dad. Karen is clearly pleased. When Scott gets back with the ice cream, Serena has fallen asleep. Karen and Scott hit the patio to not wake her up. Karen asks what it felt like when he first found out about her. He admits he was mad - that her Mom never told him and then just sent him a letter about it. He regrets not being there for her. But he can't change the past, he's there for her now. She's glad. Frank and Julie rehash her reaction to Cooper being brought in. She tells him that she knows her friendship with Chris bothers him. He denies it and tells her he hates Chris. She confesses that Chris reminds her of her brother, Frank asks which one. (Let me rant a bit here - you want to keep your identity secret, fine, but why make up all these other things, like a big family?) He can't see any of her brothers being like Chris. She says sometimes things aren't what they seem to be. They start kissing and Eve interrupts them by yelling that it's not the PC hotel. As Aretha sings "Chain of Fools", Franks asks Julie out on a real date, and she accepts. Over at the table, Chris is angry that Eve isn't doing more to break up the coosome twosome. Eve says "[Dammit, Jim!] I'm a doctor not a hit man." She leaves and outside smiles to herself that it's the kind of night anything can happen. Joe tells the Intern-Without-A-Life (Matt) to go home and get some sleep. He leaves. In another room, Dr. Tony Jones is checking on Cooper while Grace looks on. He's perplexed about what caused Cooper to seize up. Ellen arrives and tells Tony that she made the decision not to give him seizure medicine. She explains that he didn't seem to need it - that she thinks he was faking it. He asks her if maybe her initial diagnosis was incorrect (somewhat snottily for Tony - he sounded like Ellen talking to the interns). Turns out Matt didn't leave, he just moved to the couch. Joe comes in and comments about Tony taking down Ellen, who walks in as he says it. He leaves suddenly for some test results. Ellen admits that she overheard him, but it doesn't bother her. IWAL (see above) assures her that she did everything right. They snipe back and forth a bit. Then Ellen opens up and admits that she lost objectivity with Cooper and then didn't admit it. Tony walks in and says he got Cooper's test results back. Tony says there's no sign of pathology, but there might have been an adverse reaction to medication. He tells Ellen that he's taking her off the case and leaves. Eve comes home with groceries. Chris pops in to mention the money again. She asks what he's going to do - tell the cops that he hired her to lie and manipulate? He threatens her with future distress, she doesn't want him as an enemy. While a song about "If I could, I'd make you understand" plays in the background, there is a montage of scenes: Matt tries to comfort Ellen, but she's bummed, Scott strokes the sleeping Serena's hair then walks out to the patio and awkwardly does the same to a reading Karen (very touching, it brought tears to my eyes), Joe - looking sad to the point of tears - stares into space, Eve slaps a "Do not touch" sticker on her filet mignon before looking out the window and seeing Frank and Julie dancing on the back porch, Chris puts an article with a picture of Julie and her Dad with the headline "Another M.D. for the Devlins" in an envelope addressed to Frank Scanlon, Julie and Frank dancing closer.
