Updater's note: 4 stars to PC for their handling of the miscarriage.
to me, the most tragic part of miscarriage is the days of emptiness that
follow. Long after everyone else moves on, the mother is still
grieving. We saw the beginning of that ache today in Lucy and I hope it
won't be wrapped up in a week.

We start (yawn) with Joe and Karen. Karen, who is dressed to kill,
needed someone to cover her shift and didn't ask Joe because she was
going to pick up Jagger.

Kevin and Lucy in the hospital room. Kevin was watching Lucy sleep.
She wakes up and tells him that she was trying to finish her dream in
which she was waking up ready to go home but had a newborn baby in her
arms. Tenderly, Kevin gives her back her ring and asks her to marry
him.

Jake and Danielle are outside the hospital. Jake is offduty, but rather
than going to breakfast, he wants to check on a patient who had a
miscarriage last night. Danilee is impressed by how caring he is. they
kiss and are interrupted by the phone. Rex, who can obviously see them,
tells her to stop kissing him.

Scott and Serena are also outside, slightly removed from Jake and
Danielle. Serena is psyching herself up to go in to hospital. She
screws up her face and holds her breath because she hates the way they
smell. She turns quickly and runs into Danielle. She takes one look at
Danielle and blurts out " I know you."

Cliffhanger for the credits.

When we return, Danielle denies that they ever met. Scott is suspicious
(so close yet so far). We get a flashback (do they save these for my
days?) of Serena in the bedroom with Danielle in a black wig. Alas, it
is Danielle's flashback. Serena, instead, remembers that Danielle
caught Serena's ball at the park. Jake and danielle trade introductions
with Scott and Serena. Serena mentions how much she hates hospitals and
Danielle looks tense.

Return to Karen and Joe. Joe will cover her shift after all. He feels
like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Dr. Jekyll wants Karen and Jagger to work
out their problems and be happy. Mr. Hyde wants jagger to turn out to
be a complete jerk, perhaps a cop on the take.

In Lucy's room, they are dressed and ready to go. they sit on the side
of the bed, talking. Lucy says she feels fine, like nothing ever
happened. Kevin tells her she can't deny her feelings, she has to deal
with them. Lucy doesn't know how she feels. Jake comes in and checks
on her. He took care of the release papers so she can leave any time.
He stumbles around his words for a minute and then finally tells them
that when he and his fiance go through hard times, he hopes they can be
as connected as Kevin and Lucy.

Danielle goes to the roof where Rex is sunbathing. She says that Jake
will suspect something if rex keeps lurking and interrupting. Rex says
that Jake is blinded by love. Rex tells her about Lucy's miscarriage.
Danielle is genuinely upset. Rex orders her to visit Lucy and use this
occasion to bond with Lucy for the Plan.

(Updater's note: I would be far more interested in this storyline if I
wasn't already burned by the Cassidine Master Plan, which seemed to be
neither masterful or a plan).

An unnamed nurse agrees to allow Serena in to see Lucy. First, they
stop to talk with Karen. They (especially Serena) are looking forward
to meeting Jagger. Karen agrees to bring him over that night.

Serena shows up in Lucy's room with flowers. Kevin makes himself
scarce. Serena insists on giving Lucy dirty kitty, which Lucy needs
because she is sad. Lucy asks if Serena knows who gave her dirty
kitty. Daddy told her it was someone very special who loves Serena a
lot.

Danielle shows up to visit Lucy. Jake (who keeps dancing around that
clue) is surprised that they know each other. Lucy, Serena and Kevin
emerge from the hallway. Lucy is in the obligatory wheelchair. they
pass another woman in a wheelchair holding a baby. Lucy says "your baby
is beautiful." The woman thanks her cheerily and moves on. Lucy looks
particularly pained. Danielle sees the pain in Lucy's face and changes
her mind about talking to her.

Karen runs into Rhonda. Jagger called and he's not coming. Joe
overhears this information.

Danielle returns to Rex, who is still on the roof but is now making
birdcalls. Danielle tells him that she won't bother Lucy and he can go
to hell. Rex looks angry.

Lucy is home and changed into slacks. She pulls out the baby things and
looks wistful. Scott comes in and offers to get Kevin, who is helping
Serena feed Sigmund. Lucy talks to Scott instead. She's worried she'll
never have a baby of her own. Scott reassures her that she was able to
carry a baby for 9 months and she gave birth to a healthy Serena.
Serena walks in and says "Lucy gave birth to me?"
