PORT CHARLES - THE PERSONAL ADS

Matt asks Ellen if she's going to The Recovery Room. She
has to work. She tells him that surgical rotations start the
next day. He tries to bring up the Cooper case again, but
she won't listen. Karen asks what the celebration at the Recovery
Room is for and when Matt says it's for Sonny's return she
isn't interested in attending. Karen thanks Burgess for giving
her the time off to go to San Francisco.

[Single black female: Looking for low-maintenance relationship.
Must be interested in medicine and nothing else. Really like
guys who know when to drop a subject.]

Joe and Grace come into the Recovery Room. Mike says that
drinks are on the house. Mary objects to her partner throwing
away money, but Mike is too happy about Sonny's return to
consider her measly 1%. Frank compliments Joe on his persausive
abilities in getting Grace to leave the hospital. (Little knowing that
it was the other way around.) Frank thinks he should try that.
(Does he mean taking Grace out.... *yeah*... or being persuasive?)
The person he wants to persuade, Julie, enters the bar. Frank gets
up but sits back down when Chris enters after her.

[Single white/asian female: Looking for a dynamic man who can
give me what I want in a relationship... a storyline. Not interested
if you're involved with a rich doctor, or a married woman.]

Mike answers the phone. It's Danielle calling and wondering if
Jake's there. Mike asks if she's the designated driver. Danielle
says that Jake doesn't drink like that. But Mike is looking at Jake
and Jake is drinking like that. Danielle, with Rex hovering over
her, says that she doesn't want to talk to Jake, just see that he
gets home okay. Danielle hangs up. Rex thinks that Jake is
growing unreliable and that he may have to "rope him in",
"Keep your boy on a tighter leash or I will have to teach him how
to heel."

[Single white female: Looking for someone to rescue me from my
Uncle's evil clutches. Preferably someone good in bed. Should
be understanding, to the point of idiocy, about past indiscretions.]

Scott sees that Serena leaves the room so she won't hear Kevin,
Lucy and he discussing the kidnapping. Kevin asks Lucy what
she thinks is going on with Rex and Danielle. Lucy says she wouldn't
use such a strong term as suspicion, but that there was something
wrong between Danielle and Rex, as if the two had a fight. Kevin
and Scott confess that they also think there's something wrong.
Lucy asks why they're suspcious. Kevin wants to have Lucy
elaborate on her impressions of Rex and Danielle. "Why?" Lucy asks
bluntly. "Fresh perspective," says Kevin. She tells him that Danielle
seems upset, and Kevin suggests that it could be the new city and
the new engagement. That's what Lucy thought too, (she
commences to give part of the Thursday update.) but Danielle
had gotten a gift from her in-laws-to-be, and her weepy reaction
had been all out of proportion. Then she had turned down Lucy's
job offer, and been about to tell her something. Rex showed up,
liked the idea of the job offer, and Danielle had done a turnaround
and accepted it on the spot. Scott gets excited and says, he knew
something was up. Lucy objects that Danielle is just a confused
young girl and it's not like they caught her doing something. Lucy
thinks that Scott is just paranoid about his money. But Kevin blurts
out that they think Danielle and Rex had something to do with
Serena's kidnapping. Lucy is stunned.

[Single white male: I'm incredibly rich, if a little paranoid. Looking
for a woman who doesn't want me for my money. Must be good
at repartee and improvisation. Must love children.]

Danielle asks Rex not to hurt Jake. Rex is upset that Jake has
not come home, and may not go along with the game plan. Danielle
says it's Rex's fault for telling Jake the truth. Rex says he had to
do that, because the two of them were about to leave, and he had
to punish her for that. Back at the bar Matt asks Jake if Danielle is
coming by. "No," Jake says shortly. Matt speculates that Danielle
must be busy with wedding plans. A sullen Jake throws down
money on the table and leaves, growling at Mike, who has gotten
him a cab, as he goes out the door.

[Single white male: handsome young doctor seeks honest young
woman not involved in federal crimes. Should at least know what
DNA stands for. Bilingual Polish/English preferred.]

Chris notices that Julie is worried that Frank is seeing them
together. He offers to explain that they just bumped into each other
outside. But Julie says no, she doesn't owe Frank any explanations.
They sit down at a table and Chris goes to get some drinks. Frank
takes the opportunity to approach Julie. He comments that it's
"hot out". Julie agrees. He offers to get her a couple of fans out
of the attic if they need them in the basement. She says okay. He
starts to turn away, then turns back and begins to apologize,
"Yesterday, I..." Chris comes up with the drinks, interrupting Frank.
He sets down two martinis. Frank is angry again, "I see you won't
have a beer, but you'll have a martini." Julie is offended. "It's what
everyone at the country club is drinking." and takes a sip. Frank
stalks away, and Julie gags on the drink, and tells Chris it tastes like
paint thinner. Chris wonders what's going on between her and
Frank and she admits they had an argument. And it turns out that
Frank is a reverse snob, and he can't handle her being Bennet
Devlin's daughter.

[Single white male: Not a doctor. Looking for honest woman, who
likes beer, baseball and has a good jump hook. Shouldn't be rich,
or hang out with cute young doctors, or any men for that matter.]

Joe says, facetiously, that Frank has driven Julie into the arms of
another man. Frank mutters something about her just being crazy
and Joe points out that it's perfectly normal to want to be with
a charming, smiling man intsead of a grumpy Irishman. Frank
mutters something else about it being the principle of the matter.
The unusually perky Joe suggest to Grace, who has just returned
to the table that when a Scanlon starts talking about principles it's
all over except the shouting. Grace decides to ignore them and
asks for a quarter for the jukebox. Frank and Julie gaze/glare at
each other across the room. Joe tells Frank to lighten up, after
all Julie is just out with a friend, not married.

[Single white doctor: who looks like a bike messenger. Looking
for unattached female, with red hair, medical degree and stripping
credentials.]

Back at the hospital, Karen vividly remembers Fran accusing her
of being a bad wife. Burgess asks her if there's anything wrong
and Karen says she is fine. Burgess says that first evaluations and
surgical rotation is coming up and it's time to be on the ball.
Karen repeats that she is fine. She tells Burgess that she hasn't
asked yet about Scott representing Ellen. Ellen says it might not
be necessary since it looks like they're going to settle.

Matt complains to Mike that Ellen won't listen to his theory about
Cooper. He's going to give up on her. (Yeah, right.)

[Single white male: who uses a wheelchair, and is also a Doctor.
Looking for someone who will listen to me say the same thing for
hours on end and not grow tired of it.]

Frank says Julie isn't married she's just a liar. Joe says Frank
can't go ballistic everytime he sees Chris with Julie. They
are just co-workers and friends. Frank says that Julie is a
liar with bad taste. "Explains why she went out with you,"
Joe quips. Grace comes back to the table. Apparently having
chosen "You Can't Hurry Love," on the Jukebox. (too subtle
for Joe.) Joe points out that Grace is his co-worker and
friend, so what makes her any different from Ramsey. Grace
smacks Joe on the arm for comparing her to Chris. Joe
apologizes but says he was just making a point. Frank says that
he and Julie need a chance to talk. "Calmly and rationally," Joe
suggests. Grace says that Julie and Frank both said things that
they regret. "Put it behind you," says the unusally intelligent
Joe. "Do we have a plan?" he asks Frank. "We have a plan,"
Frank agrees. "Right after she apologizes."

Chris asks Julie if she wants another martini. She wonders
that people ever have more than one. So Chris is about to
order her a soda, but she stops him and says that she wants
another martini, because otherwise Frank will think she
ordered one just to prove something. Chris points out that
that is exactly why she did drink the first one. The alcohol
is already affecting her, because she thinks the second martini
will prove that she's her own person. She drinks the last of
the first one and wishes she could prove her personhood with
orange juice. Chris mentions that they should turn in early
because they have surgical rotation tomorrow. Julie doesn't
hear him and just says that she thinks Frank is really sorry
about what he did.

[Single white female: rich, but don't like it. Looking for
pleasant non-judgemental male landlord. Must play basketball,
and write leases on paper towels. Only Irish need apply.]

Scott wishes that they had even a shred of evidence to connect
Rex and Danielle to the kidnapping. Lucy asks if that is why
Scott met with Rex. Kevin asks Lucy about the Kidnapper,
since she was the only one who was in the same room with
him, could he be Rex? Lucy admits it's not impossible. The
kidnapper had really been enjoying himself and he used the weird
southern accent in the lab, and that great Irish accent in the
confessional at the church. It could have been Rex. Except
that Mac had discovered that Rex had been in Europe during
that time, and that she had introduced Rex to Serena in the
park and he'd been nice to her. Kevin points out that Rex could
have planned all that. Lucy concedes the possibility of Rex being
involved, but doesn't believe that Danielle would do such a thing.

Rex continues to berate Danielle. "You and your little Polish Ken
doll were about to run off on me." Rex claims Danielle let him
down. Where were they planning to go, Mexico? She says they
didn't leave. Still, he insists, they have to be punished. Danielle,
shrugs and says that Jake may not care about her anymore. He
might be planning to blow the whole thing out of the water.
Rex tells her that he has a contingency plan. (Murder, we hope.)
"You two geniuses couldn't even make your way out the front
door." He instructs Danielle to make nice to her man and leaves.

Chris again suggest they should leave because it's late and they
have surgical rotation tomorrow. Julie is not listening to him.
Chris says Frank will still be there tomorrow but that a surgical
residency comes along once in a lifetime. Julie tears her gaze
away from Frank and comments that surgery must mean a lot
to Chris. (Yeah, where the patients are anesthesized.) Julie
says she'll take her bike home. Chris is doubtful that the tipsy
Julie can ride home. Julie blithely suggests that she will have
Frank drive her home. Chris, clearly seeing his second string
status, says that's his cue to leave. "If you wouldn't mind,"
says Julie, who apparently loses her tact after two martinis.
"See ya tomorrow." As soon as Chris rises Frank gets up and
joins Julie at her table. They both start to apologize to each
other. Julie says she got a little defensive and Frank says that's
normal for snooty upperclass girls. At her angry look, he
explains that he's joking. Deadpan, Julie advises him to use
another approach; like groveling. Frank looks chagrined and
Julie breaks into a smile, "Gotcha." On the other side of the
room Chris scowls at them and leaves.

[Single white male: Gorgeous, rich, insincere. Seeks same in
female, but with sincereity. Must like gourmet meals, red
satin sheets and manipulation. Not interested in platonic relationship.]

Joe looks at Frank and Julie and comments to Grace that Frank
is "coming around". Grace hopes so since Julie deserves an
apology. Joe tells her not to start, and asks her if she wants
a ride home.

Mike asks Matt if Burgess doesn't believe that the Cooper thing
is a set up. Matt insists that he's washed his hands of the matter,
It looks like their going to settle out of court, but someone will
take the fall for it and Ellen doesn't know how big a drop that
is.

[Single white male: Divorced, older but still wildly attractive.
Own my own business. Looking for woman with liquor
license and poofy hair.]

At the hospital, Lee comes up to Karen and Burgess. He greets
his granddaughter warmly. He tells Ellen that it looks like
things will be settled out of court, but that someone will have
to make an "admission of responsiblity", probably Ellen. "What's
that mean?" Karen asks. (Well, Karen it means someone admits
repsonsibility.) "It means the end of my career," Ellen says
pessimistically.

[Married, soon-to-be-single, white female: Doctor. Looking for guy
who won't cheat on me but has wavy dark hair and dimples, fondness
for playing Marco Polo, out of the water.]

Jake comes home to the apartment. Danielle comes towards
him but Jake insists that he doesn't want a hug. He tells her
he has one question. Did she come to Port Charles because
Rex made her? He says that she had better tell the truth.
She tells the truth, and says that Rex told her she had to.
Jake slumps over to the couch and tells her to get out.

Kevin and Lucy are seated in the den. Lucy worries that
something might happen to Serena. Kevin guarantees that
it won't. Lucy says he can't know that. Scott returns from
tucking Serena in. Again he wishes for evidence and Lucy
asks him if Rex knew that's what he wanted. Scott says,
"No, I acted like Mr. Haney on the Green Acres." Surely
he meant Mr. Kimball. Mr. Haney was very untrustworthy.
Lucy asks him not to lump Danielle in with Rex. Scotty suggests
that he won't be going to the police anyway. Kevin, catching
his drift, says that he and Lucy don't wish to be the guardian
for a child whose father is on death row. Scott contends
they'd never convict him because there wouldn't be any
body to find. Someone knocks at the door and Kevin opens
it. It is the potential murder victim in question. Rex asks
Dr. Collins if he is coming by too late. The trio of conspirators
look at each other.

[Single white male: Insane, but don't let that bother you. Great
sense of humor. Looking for a woman who appreciates all
aspects of me and has loads and loads of cash.]
