SOMETHING TO BELIEVE IN
------------------------
Lucy and Kevin are in their bedroom (which, given the amount of time
it took to appear on PC, must have been carried piece by piece by a
production intern from the GH soundstage to the PC soundstage over the
past three months). Lucy is wearing her bridesmaid's dress for
Brenda's wedding (which isn't all that bad as bridesmaid dresses go;
it sure beats the outfits Lois's bridesmaids wore); she asks Kevin his
opinion. He's underwhelmed, but agrees with your updater - it could be
worse. She looks at herself in the mirror and remarks pensively,
"Custom-made for someone else's dreams." She's happy for Sonny and
Brenda, but her own sadness is evident. Kevin assures her that things
are going to work out for the two of them.

Lucy isn't so sure, and she's not wishing for big things anymore - just
"little dreams." Kevin doesn't see why they can't have a happy ending -
Serena is here, and Scott didn't leave with her. Lucy used to think she
could have everything she wanted - they were waiting for the baby,
Serena came back from the kidnappers, and Scott decided to stay. But
then they lost the baby, Danielle claimed to be Serena's mother, and
Lucy can't be sure that Serena will be around in the future. Lucy
doesn't think she can be brave anymore. Kevin assures her that bravery
beats honesty any day, and Lucy assures him that "I can honestly say
that I want you." But she's tired of being afraid. She worries, she's
frightened, she can hardly sleep - and she's waiting for "some terrible
disaster to swoop down." (She has apparently read the spoilers....)
Kevin wishes he could look into his crystal ball and offer her a
"faultless future". Instead, he takes her left hand and looks at her
diamond ring, pretending to read their immediate future there. (He has
apparently *not* read the spoilers). He suggests that after Sonny and
Brenda's wedding, the two of them ought to go to Manhattan and "start
reconstructing your old perspective."

Lucy thinks that sounds wonderful, but she can't stop worrying about
Serena and Scott and Victor. Kevin stops her there, telling her,
"They're all fine. This is our time." They kiss, and a beautiful love
scene follows. (The title for this section of the update came from the
music played to accompany this scene.)

FRANK AND BEN AND JULIE AND JOE AND KAREN
--------------------------------------------
Bennett Devlin arrives at the Scanlon home looking for Julie. Joe
arrives in the kitchen and Bennett lets it slip (accidentally or not?
You be the judge) that Julie is his daughter. Frank is annoyed that
Devlin spilled the beans; Joe is astonished. Devlin beats a hasty
retreat, leaving Frank to deal with an archetypal Joe Scanlon Hissy
Fit (pat. pending). Joe is offended that Julie didn't tell him; his
snarky remarks offer an excellent illustration of why Julie kept it a
secret to begin with.

Frank finally figures out that Joe's mood has a lot more to do with
Karen than with Julie.  Joe explains his problem isn't what he's done;
it's what he hasn't done but can't stop thinking about. And Karen still
wants to work on her marriage. This is even worse for him than the
suspension was.

MY FATHER, THE JERK
------------------
Karen is at her apartment, reading the e-mail she plans to send to
Jagger. She hears a knock at the door and hopes it's Joe, but it's
Julie. Karen awkwardly recovers, and eventually Julie gets to the
point - does Karen remember that she was about to tell them something
at the hospital? Karen hopes it's "how to handle that jerk Devlin."
Julie laughingly explains, "That jerk is my dad." Oops. Karen tries
to recover: "I meant 'jerk' in the nicest, most positive way." Julie
assures her it's okay, and explains her surprise when her father showed
up in town. Karen's response, unlike Joe's, is insightful, kind, and
understanding - she recognizes how hard it must have been to live up to
Bennett's expectations.

Julie notes Karen's mood and asks what is wrong. During the commercial
break, Karen tells Julie about her trip to San Francisco. She tells
Julie, "Jagger was the love of my life." When Julie points out the past
tense, she corrects it - "Is." But she couldn't believe it when they
started growing apart, and it scared her. But what scares her even more
is that, even though she's married, she can't stop thinking about Joe.
Karen just wants to be happy; Julie promises her support. Julie
explains that she's going to tell the others (not that there are many
left) about her father one at a time; Karen promises not to tell anyone.

Julie leaves, and Karen finishes reading over the letter to Jagger. She
knows his superiors won't let him contact her, but in this case she
needs to hear from him whether or not he's having an affair. She
returns to her laptop, and sends the e-mail.

ALL ABOUT EVE
-------------
Eve enters the on-call room carrying a milkshake. Chris razzes her
about the potential consequences for her figure. Eve fixes that
problem by dumping the remainder of the milkshake in Chris's lap. She
warns him to stay out of her business. It turns out that her old
landlord informed her that "some slimy loser" called him looking for
information on Eve. Chris explains that he was trying to come up with
ammunition to use against her so she wouldn't tell Julie that he brought
Devlin to town. Eve asks what he's got on her. He knows she lived in
an expensive apartment; Eve pokes fun at this "explosive" bit of data.
They get called to see a patient; as they leave, Chris casually lets
drop that he has figured out that she was sharing the apartment with
Devlin.

Later, Eve assures Chris that he knows nothing. Chris doesn't believe
her. Besides, what if he did tell people that she slept with Devlin?
It doesn't bother her that people would think she was a slut; the main
person who would suffer would be Julie. And then Devlin would destroy
Chris for knocking him off the pedestal Julie has him on. Chris tells
her that he will do whatever it takes to get where he wants to be.

Eve asks why he plays these games - he's a great doctor and doesn't need
to do it. Devlin arrives looking for Julie. Eve leaves, after which
Chris all but surgically attaches his nose to Devlin's behind. After
some disgusting flattery, he asks if they can have lunch. Devlin is
booked, but he thinks again and agrees to meet Chris for breakfast the
following morning at the P.C. Grill.
