From: rika1@mindspring.com (Rika) Subject: PC: Update, Wednesday, 9/24/97 Date: Mon, 29 Sep 1997 15:50:06 GMT X-Server-Date: 29 Sep 1997 15:50:41 GMT PORT CHARLES UPDATE PORT CHARLES UPDATE Wednesday, September 24, 1997 TODAY'S STORYLINES: ------------------- * You Gotta Have Faith * What the Heck are SVT'S? * The New Kevin Collins You Gotta Have Faith -------------------- Scott and Eve are in the truck on their way back to Port Charles; Scott would like to know what Eve's situation was. She flashes back to Bennett's veiled threats; she insists that it was just a misunder- standing. Scott reminds her that her date had all the fun - he drank the champagne, and Scott got stuck with the bill. Eve explains that she threw the champagne at him. Scott explains that Eve once helped him, and now he wants to help her. Eve says nothing. Scott begins to conjecture. It must be an ex, he says - and she more or less confirms it. He suspects she was giving the guy another chance. "Yeah," responds Eve, "but I knew deep down inside that that leopard was not changing his spots." Eve figures she got what she deserved - payback for things she's done in the past. Scott objects - the guy was a deadbeat, and he doesn't think Eve is the loser she thinks she is. "Don't do that," she objects. "Do what?" "Be nice." "I'm not," Scott assures her. Eve has decided that Scott isn't bad luck for her after all. He has been there to help her out a lot of times. Scott agrees to back off on the details of the evening - "Just don't ever tell me the guy's name." He wonders, though, why she called *him*. Something told her she could count on Scott. She hands Scott the stuffed bear Serena left for her. Their hands meet and their eyes lock for a moment; then Eve's beeper goes off. She comments that it must be an emergency at the hospital. Scott volunteers to drive her. At first, it appears the truck will not start, but it starts up, and Scott reminds her, "Sometimes you've gotta have a little faith." He grabs her nose (it sounds weird but it was very cute); she smiles, and they head for the hospital. When they arrive, Eve and Bennett nearly collide. Bennett murmurs, "Pardon me," and Eve snipes back, "Not a chance." Scott asks who he is, and Eve tells Scott Bennett's name. Scott has heard of him. Ellen comes up to Eve, eyes her fancy dinner dress, and tells her to get to work. Karen tells Scott about the fire, and that Kevin and Lucy are around somewhere; then she and Joe have to rush off to an examining room where they are needed. WHAT THE HECK ARE SVT'S? ------------------------ Ellen arrives in response to a page; Grace fills her in on the situation with the fire, and Frank's involvement. Ellen races after a group of paramedics and interns rushing Frank down the hall on a gurney; Mary and Mike run behind Ellen. Mary wants to call her priest; she and Mike leave. Ellen tells Joe he's off the case; he yells, "This is my brother!" Ellen responds, "That's *why* you're off the case." Karen pulls Joe out of the room, as Julie, Chris, and a nurse work on Frank. Julie comes out in the lobby, and Kevin goes to talk to her. He tells her of Frank's courage and persistence during the fire. "People like Frank Scanlon don't come along every day," he concludes. Julie agrees. Mike tells Mary that Joe will tell her what's going on with Frank. She doubts it - she figures Joe will make it sound encouraging even if it's not. Mary thanks Mike for his support, especially after the day he's had. Mike is just as glad to be where he is. Karen tries to get Joe to calm down. He insists that he's okay, but she doesn't buy it. He tells her of his connection with Frank - whenever one of them was in trouble, the other would be there. Frank always made sure things were all right for Joe, and now there's nothing Joe can do for Frank. Later, Mary is still waiting for Father Wysocki, her priest. The church doesn't know where he is. She tells Mike he ought to go home, but he'd like to make sure Frank is okay first. Bennett finds Julie, and asks her to go off with him for a while. She explains that she can't because of Frank. She bursts into tears, and Bennett hugs her. Grace comes up to tell her that Frank regained consciousness. She rushes into his room; Bennett watches her from the other side of the door. Chris walks by; Bennett stops him and says he may need his help after all. Inside the room, Julie sits by Frank holding his hand and tells him he'll be fine. She apologizes for their argument; she doesn't ever want to waste time arguing with him again. Frank suddenly seems to be in trouble, and his monitor begins to beep. Julie is scared - he is in SVT, she says to herself. THE NEW KEVIN COLLINS --------------------- Out in the lobby, a nurse puts a bandage on an annoyed Kevin's head. He snaps at Lucy when she asks how he is. She embraces him; he winces in pain when she touches his head, but she doesn't notice. Ellen arrives with news of Victor. He's been admitted for obser- vation; he is shaken up and has some minor burns, but otherwise he is fine. He's been asking about Kevin. Kevin wants to go see Victor; Ellen stops him because she wants Kevin admitted for observation too. He insists that he's fine; Ellen begins to examine him. She touches a spot on the back of his head and he pulls away in pain. He insists it's just a bump, but Ellen believes it's a concussion. She'll either examine him here, or after he's admitted. Kevin insists he's not hurt, but he agrees to wait around till he hears that Frank is better. "Keep him here," Ellen instructs Lucy, who assures Ellen that she will do so. Lucy tells Kevin about her night chasing all over town looking for him, and asks him what happened. He explains about the explosion. He lost consciousness, and when he opened his eyes the room was a shambles. He thought he was going to die in a fire, like Ryan and his mother. But then he thought of Lucy - she was there with him. And he said, "No, I do *not* accept this. I *will* have a future with Lucy." He left his past behind in the fire. He survived the fire for a reason - if he ever got out, he knew he had to ask her something. Kevin gets down on one knee and asks, "Will you marry me, Lucy?" Lucy reminds Kevin that he already proposed, and shows him her engagement ring. "It is beautiful, isn't it," he responds, "but the old Kevin gave that to you." He is the new Kevin - and he walked through fire to be with her. Kevin is excited about the future - the places they can go, the adventures they can have. He asks her again to marry him; Lucy says yes over and over, kissing him. (Your updater wonders how the New Kevin Collins is going to feel about having Lucy's old lover living with them. Lucy may be getting more than she bargained for here.....) Lucy wonders why nobody ever came to look at Kevin. "Because they have sick people to look after," he tells her. He believes he just needs some rest. He'll go check on Victor and Frank, and then they'll go home. Lucy likes that idea - she's looking forward to getting reacquainted with her "new and improved" fiance. Serena is with Lee and Gail for the night, and Scott's not home, so..... Kevin seems to like what he's hearing, but as Lucy leans forward to kiss him, his eyes flutter, his head goes back, and he falls out of his chair, unconscious. Lucy kneels over him, screaming for help and begging Kevin, "Don't do this to me!" ------------------ Rika, subbing for the Wednesday updater
