From: maclatch <maclatch@unbsj.ca> Subject: PC: Update, Wednesday 29 October 1997 Date: Thu, 30 Oct 1997 09:19:44 -0400 Port Charles Update, Wednesday, 29 October 1997 An episode during which Scott thinks that the whole world is against him but he finds out he still has a few good friends; Julie is her own hero; and Matt gets some good news. Scott is with Kevin and Justus at Scott's new digs. Kevin wants Scott to look at the bright side: he is out of jail and can see Serena. Scott is concerned that Serena has been taken from him. Frank and Joe are eating breakfast at chez Scanlon. Frank is wondering where Julie is as she didn't come home last night. Julie is in Cooper's basement. Cooper checks her chains and gives her breakfast. She wants a warm crueller and bonds with him over a story about an all night donut shop from her med school days. He'll see if he can get her one. He leaves and she works to see if she can free herself and gives herself a pep talk even though she is obviously scared. At the Recovery Room, Ellen asks Matt if he has heard from the board yet. [Coincidentally!] he is paged and goes to the phone. Mike asks Ellen if it's the verdict. Matt returns to Mike and Ellen and tells them the decision's in and that he has to go meet Alan Quartermaine at GH. At the firehall, Scott wants Justus to petition the court for Scott to regain custody of Serena. Mac, Kevin and Justus don't think this is a good idea. They try to convince Scott to leave well enough alone — she is in good hands at Gail's. They don't want Scott to get a hold of her and go on the run. Scott says he won't run and Justus agrees to file to get her back. They go over the evidence that has been accumulated: gambling debts and the fact that the diamonds were fenced in Hong Kong and the money deposited into Scott's (fictitious) Cayman account. The people behind this have done a good job of making Scott look guilty. Julie is still trying to free herself — and succeeds! She breaks a glass window, and just as she does she hears Cooper coming down the stairs. Julie hides because she doesn't have time to get out. Cooper enter the basement. He is upset because Julie is apparently gone (he thinks she left out the broken window). At the hospital, Ellen and Mike accompany Matt to his meeting. Alan has good news — the board will implement the changes and get the standing chair from Atlanta. In a nice bow to history, Alan says "as a frustrated surgeon, my hat's off to you". Cooper is upset Julie's left and is threatening her out loud. He'll track her down and get her. There is a rat nosing around who is curious about the place Julie's hiding. Lucy enters the scene with the guys at Scott's place. There is an editorial in the paper that paints Scott as a doer-of-bad-deeds. The editor has written about his brushes with the law, his suspension from the bar, his failed investments during his tenure as Jason Morgan (née Quartermaine's) guardian. Scott is worried about what a family judge is going to say about all of this. Cut to Rex's digs. He is talking on the phone — obviously thanking someone at the paper for the editorial. Frank is calling around to Julie's friends trying to find her. Frank speaks with Grace — apparently Julie had called the hospital to say she was leaving town to be with a sick friend. Frank calls Devlin and tells him that Julie has gone off someplace to be with a friend. Neither of them believe she would risk her residency or go off without a word. Devlin gives him the names of some of Julie's friends, but Frank has called them already. Devlin offers to call some more people. Cooper is mumbling to himself in the basement about punishing Julie. He is taking down all of the newspaper clippings about himself he had on the mirror. Frank is now at the hospital talking to Joe and Chris about where Julie might be. Cooper is cleaning up the basement so that there are no signs that either he or Julie were there. He leaves. Julie climbs out from her hiding place. At the hospital, the other interns are congratulating Matt about his re-entry into the surgical rotation. Boardman enters and says that now that the board has decided he hopes that there are no hard feelings. Matt and the Boardman shake hands. Scott is upset. If he's the guy in the the paper he doesn't deserve Serena. Lucy tells him that that person is not him anymore. He says Dominique and Serena have changed him. Lucy tells Scott he can start proving he's changed by not being ashamed of who he was. They reminisce over their wild and crazy days of old, like the Victor Jerome diamond caper. Scott is afraid he will lose his daughter and realizes how bad it must have been for Lucy when Scott accused her of kidnapping Serena. Lucy says that that was OK, he didn't know that she had changed. Scott tells Lucy that she is is best friend. She's always known that. [Personally, I thought this was a very touching scene between Lucy and Scott.] Cooper's back in the basement and sees Julie. Seems he forgot his watch. He gives her an A for effort a D for execution and a F for attitude. He's going to punish her for this. [Actually, I'm still holding out that Julie will be able to rescue herself without Frank having to do it. It would be nice to see a woman be the hero of her own life for a change. JMHO.] Roll credits. -Deb
