DESPERATELY SEEKING JULIE
-------------------------
Garcia arrives in the crowded On-Call Room, bearing flyers and donuts
(he *is* a cop, after all). He also has a lead. A guy at a one-hour
photo store saw the flyers with Julie's picture and recognized her from
some film he developed. He gave a police sketch artist a description of
the man who picked up the film. Garcia shows the sketch to the Frank,
Joe, Karen, and Chris, who recognize him as Greg Cooper.

Frank and the interns decide to post copies of the sketch of Cooper
around the hospital. Garcia says he has policemen knocking on doors in
the vicinity of the photo shop, showing copies of the sketch. They all
head off, leaving the Devlins alone together. Nicole can't bear to lose
another child. Bennett assures her that Julie will be all right, but
Nicole can see the same doubt in his eyes that was there before, when
they lost Buddy. Eve comes in and asks if there is anything she can do.
(Nicole, still ignorant of Eve's past involvement with Bennett, doesn't
respond, "Oh, you've already done MORE than enough." Too bad.) Nicole
asks her to call the TV stations and tell them they're sending over a
sketch of Cooper. Eve watches Nicole and Bennett embrace.

Out at the nurses' station, Frank and Joe show the sketch of Cooper to
their mother. She takes a bunch of flyers and offers to get her friends
to spread them around town. She explains that she asked the church to
add Julie's name to the Novena being said that night. She wishes Father
Wysocki hadn't resigned, because she doesn't like the new priest as
much. When Joe questions her, she explains that Father Wysocki left
abruptly, and nobody knew where he was or what was happening till the
bishop got a letter.

Back in the OCR, Eve finds her patient's missing watch in her locker.
She accuses Chris of planting it there, but he denies it, pointing out
that it is part of an overall pattern. Frank, Joe, and Chris explain
all the recent mishaps to Garcia and the Devlins. So what's the
pattern, asks Garcia. (Paisley. Next question? Sheesh, this guy is
DEFINITELY PCPD police commish material, in the fine clueless tradition
of Sean Donely.) Frank helpfully supplies the obvious answer - all the
evil deeds somehow harmed one of the interns. Bennett makes the
insightful remark that Julie is an intern too. (Nothing gets past this
guy, does it?) The group realizes that the incidents started right
around the time Cooper supposedly died in the Forest Hills file. Garcia
has already ordered a copy of the coroner's report (okay, so maybe he's
too smart to be police commissioner after all).

In a hospital corridor, Cooper (disguised as a patient) overhears Mary
Scanlon telling Audrey about the latest in the investigation. She shows
Audrey a copy of the sketch of Cooper - Audrey recognizes the man in the
photo as the orderly she saw in the hospital pushing a gurney (yeah, I
bet Audrey NEVER sees an orderly doing that in a typical day). Mary
asks her to look at the photo again, and Audrey then recognizes that
it's Cooper.

FAITH, HOPE, AND LOVE
---------------------
Kevin and Lucy anxiously pace the floor of Dr. Newman's office, waiting
for the results of the fertility tests. Lucy babbles nervously about
nothing in particular until Kevin finally stops her. He assures her
that it's okay to be nervous; she talks about her fears, and about how
much she wants a baby with Kevin. She takes his hands; she is surprised
to discover that his hands are as cold as hers. He explains that he's
nervous too. He used to look for reasons not to be a father, but now
that he realizes he *can* truly be a father, he wants a child.

Dr. Newman arrives and Lucy anxiously asks, "Do we pass or do we fail?"
After a moment of silence, Kevin asks when they can start trying to have
a baby. Is it too soon, asks Lucy. The doctor explains that it isn't
too soon, but "there is a complication." There has been scarring
because of her past miscarriages that may prevent Lucy from conceiving.
Lucy suggests that there is still hope, and Dr. Newman agrees - there
are constant medical advances in fertility. Lucy hangs on to the hope,
and Kevin encourages her.

Dr. Newman leaves them alone, and they embrace as Lucy cries. Later,
Lucy blinks back her tears, trying to think positively. Kevin gently
but firmly assures her that he believes that they will somehow be
successful in having a baby. Lucy asks how he can stay so optimistic,
after everything they've been through. He explains: "I know how much I
love you." Lucy thanks him for giving her hope. She doesn't understand
why life has to be like this - always a struggle. (Because you're on a
soap. Next question?)

Out in the hospital lobby, Kevin and Lucy are kissing. And kissing.
Kevin asks Lucy what is going on. (Your lips are meeting repeatedly.
Next question?) She explains that no matter how hopeless life gets, all
she has to do is reach out her hand, and without asking, his hand is
there ready to take hers. (This is a nice role reversal - a year ago,
Lucy was the one doing all the supporting, and Kevin was the one in
need). Besides, it's just plain fun! Kevin agrees with this, and they
kiss some more. He remembers that he was supposed to schedule some more
fertility tests with Dr. Newman's nurse, but he and Lucy just can't seem
to stop kissing. Finally, Lucy's cell phone rings, and they break
apart. She remarks, "See, I still hear bells whenever you kiss me."
(Kevin used that line recently himself, but he's worth quoting.) Kevin
laughs - "Oh, I've still got it!" - and heads off to see Dr. Newman's
nurse. Lucy answers the phone - it's Gail (see below).

BEING SCOTT
-----------
Scott arrives at Rex's house, furious about Rex's custody suit. Rex
pretends to be hospitable - would Scott like a brandy? Scott figures
Rex just wants to accuse him of being an alcoholic. Scott orders Rex to
stay out of their lives. Because of Rex, Serena can't see her father,
and it's tearing her apart. Is Rex so sick that he'd ruin a little
girl's life just for money? (Yes. Next question?) Rex claims to
resent the remark, insisting that he cares about Serena.

Danielle slithers into the room; Scott asks what she is doing there.
(Not much. Next question?) Rex explains to Scott that Danielle has
moved in with him; living with Jake in "what some might perceive as sin"
wouldn't create a fitting atmosphere for a child. Rex challenges Scott
to live within the limits of the visitation arrangement, for Serena's
sake. He'll let the courts decide who deserves Serena, but Scott will
always be welcome in Rex's home to visit Serena. Rex explains that he
was so disgusted by Scott's actions in kidnapping Serena that he had no
choice, in considering Serena's best interests, but to file for custody.
Scott says he knows what's best for Serena - for Rex and Danielle to
disappear for good. Was that a threat, asks Rex? (Probably. Next
question?) No, Scott replies, but then he promises to make Rex and
Danielle regret what they've done. (Answer to unasked question: Yes,
Rex, THAT was a threat).

Next, Scott arrives at Gail's house. She tries to kick him out - Serena
is there and Scott doesn't have the social worker along. Scott asks how
Serena is doing - he's worried about the nightmares she has been having.
While he is at the door, Serena hears his voice and rushes to the door,
shouting, "DADDY!" She throws herself into his arms. Serena wonders
why Gail didn't tell her Scott would be visiting. Gail sardonically
explains, "Grandma is always the last to know." She tells Serena it's
time for school. Scott agrees, but first asks Serena for a kiss. She
does so, and then runs off for her backpack.

Gail asks Scott not to put her in this position again - if anybody knew
about it, she could lose custody - and she firmly escorts Scott out the
door. Then she goes out to the garage to warm up the car. While she's
out there, Scott sneaks back into the house. He calls Serena and asks
about her bad dream. She tells him, and then asks to spend some time
with him - couldn't they at least have breakfast together? (No, because
Gail doesn't have any Devil Dogs, orange soda, candy corn, or Yoo Hoo in
the kitchen. Next question?) Scott can't resist - he writes Gail a
note explaining that he has Serena, and they rush out the door together.

Gail calls Lucy on her cell phone to tell her that Scott has run off
with Serena. Lucy asks what Scott could have been thinking. "He wasn't
thinking - he was just being Scott," Gail answers. Lucy asks if Gail
thinks Scott has taken Serena out of the country. Gail is going to call
the airport, and anyplace else she can think of; Lucy will try to think
where he might be too. Lucy sees Karen and asks if she has heard from
Scott or Serena. She hasn't; Lucy explains about Scott and Serena's
disappearance. Karen says she will check with Rhonda, and agrees to
call Lucy if she learns anything. Lucy rushes off to start looking for
Scott.

Jake arrives, and Karen berates him for Danielle's role in the custody
suit. What is Danielle trying to do? (Count to five and learn to wave
bye-bye. Next question?) Jake explains that he has nothing to do with
the suit, and that Danielle is out of his life because of her
involvement with Rex.
