From: maclatch <maclatch@unbsj.ca> Subject: PC: Update, Wednesday, 03 December 1997 Date: Thu, 04 Dec 1997 10:39:38 -0400 PC Update, Wedenesday, 03 December 1997 The Port Charles Grill — *the* place to be At the lighthouse, Scott, Kevin and Lucy discuss that Rex will be eating at the PC grill that night. Seems the *loss* of his cook forces him to eat out more often (they chuckle over just why the cook is gone). Kevin and Lucy are to go to the Grill and get into a fight, something that has to be about "basic differences". Lucy and Kevin tease each other — there can't be anything about her he doesn't like, is there? Kevin loves everything about Lucy. Scotty says that this shouldn't be this difficult, Lucy is an old hand at fighting. Kevin thinks they still need to rehearse. Jake is in his apartment on the phone. He is trying to buy a gun out of state (shorter waiting period). No luck — you need to be a resident of this other state. Karen and Joe are discussing a catheter removal from a patient. Jake calls Karen about a patient that came in with a superficial gunshot wound. His name is Beau Green. Jake says he wants to know because he needs to get back to him with an answer to a medical question. Jake says he is doing OK, and Karen offers to come over and drop off some food. Jake declines the offer, he wants to be alone. Grace and Matt's shift is over. Matt asks her to go to the Recovery Room to get a bite. Grace would prefer a home cooked meal, but hasnt't the time. Matt still wants to try her veggie lasagna; with her schedule she doesn't think she'll have time to ever make 4h-lasagna again. Karen and Joe discuss the catheter patient again and her pain management. Speaking of pain management, Karen's divorce papers came. She hasn't signed them yet — needs a ceremony, like a wedding, but she's not in mourning. Wants to celebrate this positive step. Joe is all for that. Jake calls Beau Green. Remembers he collected guns. Lucy and Karen are trying to fight. Scotty says they need some triggers — how about Lucy dresses like she should be in a window in Amsterdam? how about she is kooky about her ducks? Lucy starts in on Scotty. Kevin thinks this is great <sarcasm>, Kevin and Lucy are the ones who are supposed to be fighting, not Scott and Lucy. Lucy says she'll look forward to the days when she is to be fighting with Scott. The whole town will soon think all three are fighting. They need someone to act as a liaison, a communicator amongst them. What about Karen? No, she would take Scott's side. Jake? He's too emotional. Need someone Rex wouldn't suspect, and who they can trust. The handy-dandy PC transporter comes into action. Scott is immediately seen at the hospital, speaking with Eve. Scott wants to know if he can trust her, it's about the custody battle. Eve promises not to tell. Scotty tells her that Lucy and Kevin are going to pretend to break up so that Lucy can get close to Rex. Scott and Lucy are going to have a breach as well. Eve is the only one who knows. [OK, I'm all for Eve getting involved in this plot, as an unofficial FPC Eve; however, if they can tell Eve everything, why couldn't they tell Karen everything, which would mean that she would have known not to take Scott's side? This was an obvious plot device to get Eve involved, even though Karen was a more natural choice as liaison (if the object was not to rouse Rex's suspicions).] Eve is to carry messages back and forth. Eve is excited; this is like WWII spy stuff. Scott warns her this could be dangerous. Eve is pleased — nobody's ever trusted her like this before. She would be honoured to help get Serena back. Scott will spring for dinner for her and a friend at the Grill; he wants Rex to get used to seeing her around. At the Port Chuckles Grill, Julie, Frank and Nicole are having supper. Nicole tells Frank she is a marketing consultant with her own business. She is impressed that Frank is both a teacher and a paramedic. Nicole thinks that teachers are underpaid in the US. They have to work for love. Julie says her mom is always on her soapbox. Frank also coaches baseball, so he must be crazy about kids (meaningful glances from Nicole to Julie). Lucy and Kevin enter the Grill. They pretend to be upset Rex is there, and that there is no table far away from him. They are seated. Lucy says she wants to sue for custody of Serena if Scott is found guilty of kidnapping. Kevin says Rex has already sued, what would be the point? Lucy has a connection with Serena. Kevin's zinger: he wants to have his own children with Lucy, not raise Scott Baldwin's child. The server tells Nicole her credit card doesn't work — it's been cancelled. She gives him another card. Chris and Eve enter. Nicole's second card is cancelled. She pays in cash. Lucy and Kevin continue to fight. Kevin thinks Lucy is obsessed with Serena. Rex is enjoying this brouhaha (he tells his lawyer, with whom he is eating). Kevin and Lucy continue fighting. Lucy says he is selfish and leaves on her own. Rex comments that there seems to be trouble in paradise. Jake is at the Recovery Room alone. Karen and Joe enter, but he doesn't want to join them. He meets with Beau Green, who has information on a non-traceable 45. Mike tells Joe that Jake has been cut off, he doesn't want to lose his liqour licence over him. Jake gets a gun from BG, under the table, and puts it in his pants. Joe comes over to Jake, BG leaves, and Joe offers to take Jake home. Lucy is at Scott's. She tells him she really enjoyed the evening, it reminded her of the old days. [This is a great way to get some of the *old* Lucy and Scott back. Make it part of the plan, so that the growth of the characters is still present, but we can get back to some of the fun and games and scheming of yore.] Eve calls and tells Scott that everything is perfect (code speak). Lucy feels guilty about leaving Kevin that way in public. Kevin is at the hospital. He thanks Eve for agreeing to act as a go between. A nurse interrupts. When she leaves, Kevin says they need to find a way to meet without chances of being overheard. Eve is to schedule some "therapy sessions". She doesn't really need, she says, to be psycohanalyzed. [Methinks Kevin and Eve might be heading into some interesting and revealing All About Eve talks.] At the hospital, Julie and Frank agree not to go out with either of Julie's parents again for a while. Nicole confrots Bennett — why was her credit cut off? Bennett says he needs to protect his credit now that she has applied for a divorce. Nicole says she will get her own cards. Her mind is not changed about the divorce, and won't be. She leaves Bennett. Nicole runs into Chris. She wants to apologize for taking her anger at Ben out on everyone else. She knows why he didn't mention Eve. She offers to give him a "real apology" in private. She leaves. Chris smiles. [It wasn't goofy, it wasn't sinister — I couldn't really read it at all.] Joe has brought Jake home. The place is a mess. Jake wants to be alone. He yells at Joe, and the gun falls out of his pants. Joe sees it and looks shocked. End of Wednesday!
