PC Update, 10 December 1997

In the courtroom, Bess (Jason Quartermaine/Morgan's ex-nanny) is
testifying. Bess tells the court about Scotty's forgery, many year's
ago, to get at Jason's trust fund. Lee tries to get the testimony
dismissed, because people can change. The judge allows it. Lucy
wonders out loud if the judge is on Rex's payroll. The judge overhears,
is not impressed, and threatens her with contempt.

At Lee and Gail's, Serena is having her hair braided by Angel
Dominique. Gail comes in and notices her hair and wonders how she did
it. Serena tells Gail her Mommy did it.

At the Scanlons', Julie is looking for Frank, but Joe says he's at the
hardware store. Nicole comes to see Julie.

At Gail's, Serena and Gail discuss Scotty and Dominique's wedding.
Serena seems to know stuff that Scotty hasn't told her. Again, it's
because her Mommy told her. Serena asks where the sweater Dominique
started and Lucy finished (for baby Serena) is. Gail says Serena wore
it to Canada, but isn't sure where it is now. Serena says her Mommy
will know and tell her.

At the Scanlons', Julie and Nicole are talking. Nicole wants to
explain. Julie says her mom's as guilty as her dad — they're throwing
away their marriage. Nicole says she's been pretending for 25 years
(for the sake of appearances) to be happy. Julie thinks Nicole slept
with Chris for revenge. Nicole says maybe. She also says the marriage
is over.

At the courthouse, Lee tells Scott he will try and rattle Bess on the
cross examination. Lucy and Kevin discuss a fight they are going to
stage later.

Lee cross examines Bess. She admits she hasn't seen Scott in years and
doesn't know much about him as a person now. What she does know, Rex
told her. Judge calls a recess.

Jake tells Rex he should have paid Bess more. Rex says she's only the
warm-up. Monica enters — she's been called to testify.

At the Scanlons', Julie tells Nicole that she realizes the family is
dysfunctional. She wants to go back to the happy days of yore. All
Nicole and Ben do now is fight. Julie left Chicago to get away from
them — and now, here they are in PC, having slept with two of her fellow
interns. [OK, I'm not a big Julie fan, but she has a right to be mad at
her mom for this. Nicole obviously didn't think of the ramifications to
Julie of sleeping with one of her co-workers. At least Bennett didn't
intentionally sleep with a buddy of Julie's.] Frank returns from the
store and Nicole leaves. Julie asks for and gets a hug from Frank.

At the courtroom, Rex is on the cell phone. Lucy interrupts. She is
mad at Rex for calling Monica to testify. Rex says he's just an
observer. Lucy says he's despicable and will deal with him later. Rex
thinks this is OK, he likes ‘em feisty.

In court, the prosecutor is asking Monica about the forgery. She says
Scotty did the forgery, and, under pressure, that that is not a very
good thing for someone to do. Lee in the cross brings up Susan Moore's
drinking problem, and suggests that Scott's forgery protected Jason's
trust fund from being manipulated by Susan or other unscrupulous
people. No charges were ever brought against Scott. About Scott's
parenting these days, Monica says that he seems to act with Serena's
best interest at heart. Scott says to Lee afterward that he needs a
miracle to get out of this mess. [In the form of Angel Dominique, me
thinks.]

In Serena's room, Dominique is back and sings her a lullaby.

At the Scanlons', Julie thinks Frank should say "I told you so" — he was
right about her dad and the Chicago school recruitment, and about her
mom and Chris dancing at the Recovery Room. Frank says he'll help her
through this.

At the courtroom, Jake tells Rex he is acting too smug. Kevin and Lucy
stage a fight. Kevin pretends to believe all of the bad things coming
up in court make Scott a less than ideal person. Lucy asks if that is
the opinion of a professional who no longer can practice, or of a
stalker. Kevin thinks these are low blows, and says he won't be coming
to court anymore. In the courtroom, Monica apologizes to Scott and Lee
for not being more help.

Scotty phones Gail. She is concerned that Serena is still pretending to
be sick, and that her imaginary friend is her Mommy. Scott wants to
come over, and will call the social worker to meet him there.
