From: rika1@nospam.mindspring.com (Rika) Subject: PC: Update, Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997 Date: Sun, 14 Dec 1997 04:30:08 GMT X-Server-Date: 14 Dec 1997 04:31:00 GMT PORT CHARLES UPDATE Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997 TODAY'S STORYLINES: ------------------- * Teenagers In Love * Serena's Imaginary Friend * A Lotta Lasagna * An Old-Fashioned Christmas - Sort Of TEENAGERS IN LOVE ----------------- Court has adjourned for the day. Outside the courtroom, Rex is crowing to Rollins, his attorney. He knew he'd enjoy dragging Scott through the mud, but he never imagined he'd have the added benefit of breaking up "the sappiest couple in town." He hasn't had this much fun in a long time. Meanwhile, Kevin and Lucy are driving home, and Lucy remarks that she hasn't been this miserable in a long time. She apologizes for the things she said to Kevin during their staged fight, though he assures her there is no need for an apology. He agrees that her "America's Most Wanted" remark about his stalking was a low blow, but he figures that the more they pull out the stops, the more convincing they will be. Lucy remarks that at least it's good that they aren't really fighting - are they? Kevin wants to go back to "just being ourselves" for a while, but Lucy doesn't see how that's possible, with all the yelling and fighting. Kevin reminds her that "this will all be over soon." (Don't count on it, Doc.) Lucy tries to convince herself that their plan is a good one. Kevin agrees that it already seems to be working - he thinks Rex believed what he heard. Lucy notices that Kevin seems tired, and he explains that fighting with her takes an emotional toll in him. In fact, there was only one thing that got him through the fight: thinking about making up later. Lucy, inspired by this reminder, decides to start the festivities right away. She leans over and begins to kiss Kevin's neck and face. Kevin gets nervous, and reminds Lucy that "I'm driving a very expensive car." She tells him to keep his eyes on the road, and to keep driving. At some point, Kevin apparently gave up all hope of avoiding an accident, because when we rejoin them the car is pulled over to the side of the road, and Kevin and Lucy are fully absorbed in kissing each other. They pull apart, breathless, and Lucy remarks that this takes her back to making out in cars as a teenager - she was always afraid of getting caught by Aunt Charlene. When Kevin questions her further, she explains that she never made out in front of the house: she was afraid to, because Aunt Charlene was a tough lady. "So you were a good girl!" Kevin remarks with a big grin. Lucy sheepishly admits that she wasn't - she used to sneak off to a deserted air strip to meet guys, hang out, and make out. "Now I'm getting jealous," Kevin teases. Lucy turns the tables, asking what Kevin used to do as a teenager. He explains that it was different growing up in Europe. Nobody had cars, so they went to the movies. Lucy can't believe they sat in the theater and made out in front of everyone; Kevin insists that they didn't - instead, they sat in the back and watched everyone else make out. (Yeah, right, I bet.) He feels rather deprived - he was born in the US, but he never got to have the "quintessential American car experience." (Well, Kevin, let's not forget that you and Lucy ALMOST had a quintessential American car experience in the back of Mac Scorpio's Explorer a few years ago.) Lucy informs him that he is about to get very, very lucky, and they go back to kissing. When we rejoin them later, they are in the back seat and have evidently just finished having.... well, a quintessential American car experience. Kevin remarks that it was *quite* an experience - he finally knows what he was missing all these years. And now he knows why teenagers make out in cars - "It's fun!" Lucy suggests that they make it a weekly tradition; Kevin likes that idea, joking about all the money they'll save on hotel rooms. SERENA'S IMAGINARY FRIEND ------------------------- Scott and Eve arrive at Gail's house, and find that the social worker has arrived as Scott requested. Serena hears him and races out to greet him. Scott asks about her "invisible friend," and Serena replies, "Oh, you mean Mommy." Eve tells Serena about the invisible friend she used to have as a child. Serena explains that she can see Dom, but she's invisible to everyone else. Eve distracts Serena by teaching her to do a cat's cradle while Gail and Scott discuss Serena's "invisible friend". Gail recommends that he not ask too many questions - he should act as though Serena is telling the truth. Scott asks Serena what she and Mommy talk about. Serena mentions something - the yellow sweater Dom knitted for Serena before she was born. Serena asks Scott where it is. He's not sure, but he assures her that it's in a box of clothes somewhere. Scott is surprised that she knows about the sweater, and asks if she remembers wearing it. Serena thinks that's a pretty silly question, since she was just a baby then. She wants the sweater because it was her mother's last gift to her. Serena assures him that Mommy will help to look for the sweater - she can get into places that Scott can't. The cat's cradle game resumes. Meanwhile, Scott asks Gail if she ever mentioned the sweater; Gail didn't. They decide that perhaps Lucy mentioned it to Serena, since she had to finish it when Dom was to ill to do it herself. Eve figures that Scott might have mentioned it himself. Serena corrects them - "It wasn't you - Mommy told me." Scott tucks Serena into bed, and Serena asks if it's wrong for her to visit with Mommy. She explains that Dom told her it was easier for a child to see her - that's the magic. Scott turns out the light and returns to the living room. He wishes Serena's imaginary friend were real - and he also doesn't understand about Serena knowing about the sweater. Gail figures that Serena needs more than her mother's star to talk to. "So do I," remarks Scott, but adults aren't allowed to have imaginary friends. Meanwhile, in Serena's room, Dominique tucks Serena in and kisses her goodnight. A LOTTA LASAGNA --------------- Matt and Karen are at the Recovery Room; they are nervous about the six-month intern evaluations that are coming up. They can't believe six months have already gone by. Mike tries to reassure them. Grace arrives with a pan of lasagna, made from her father's recipe. She wants to use Matt's oven to heat it up, but Matt explains that it's broken. Mike teasingly complains that Matt is constantly breaking things in the apartment. At any rate, Mike has ovens in his kitchen, so he sends the lasagna back to be heated up. Grace invites Karen and Mike to join them for dinner, since there's a lot of lasagna, but Karen explains that she has a date with Joe. She doesn't have any idea where he's taking her - he just told her to dress warmly and wear boots. Joe arrives and resists the group's attempts to get him to spill the secret; then Joe and Karen head off. Ellen Burgess arrives, freezing momentarily at the sight of Matt and Grace together. They invite her to join them, but she says she has work to do - she has the six-month evaluations with her. Grace again offers her lasagna, and Mike all but begs Ellen to join them, after which she reluctantly agrees and moves to their table. Mike suggests that they hold a pot luck dinner, with each person bringing a family specialty. Grace asks Matt what he'd bring. He responds that "when you're brought up by a band of roving gypsies" you don't have good food memories. Grace and Matt laugh; Ellen watches Matt intently. Grace remarks that Matt jokes about his family a lot, and she'd like to know the truth; Matt asks why she thinks he's joking. Mike asks Ellen about her family; he knows she came up from Manhattan, and he wonders what she'd bring to a potluck. Pizza, she says - just a "standard whatever" pizza. Grace presses her for some special memory. Matt, noticing Ellen's tense silence, changes the subject by asking Grace for another helping of lasagna. Grace is not pleased to notice the look of understanding that passes between Matt and Ellen. Grace and Mike both get up from the table, leaving Matt and Ellen alone. Ellen thanks Matt for deflecting the conversation from her so that she didn't have to talk about her family. He's glad he could help - he knows how she feels. AN OLD-FASHIONED CHRISTMAS - SORT OF ------------------------------------ Karen and Joe have reached the destination for their date - but Karen is confused, because they're in the middle of a grove of trees. Joe explains that she is about to take part in a Scanlon family tradition. Mary knows Mr. McIntyre, the owner of the land, and every year he allows the Scanlons to come out and cut down a Christmas tree. Since it's Karen and Joe's first Christmas together, Joe wanted her to help. She wonders how they pick the best tree, and he explains that it's a "very scientific process." He walks over in front of one tree and kisses Karen. He explains that "the perfect kiss means the perfect tree." Karen figures he's been using this "scientific process" on all the women in Port Charles; he claims that it's his first time. He is ready to cut down the first tree they tried; Karen, who evidently understands this process better than Joe does, drags him over to another tree and they kiss again. It's a better kiss, so Joe cuts down that tree. Just as the tree falls, a forest ranger approaches and asks what they're doing. Oops. Evidently Mr. McIntyre sold the land, and it's now a Federal forest preserve. Double oops. The forest ranger writes Joe a citation and departs; Joe remarks that for the amount of the ticket, he could have bought a tree big enough for Rockefeller Center. Karen and Joe head off with their tree. ---------------------- by Rika, Thursday updater
