Karen has her place all spiffed up for dinner with Joe. (Even though it's
technically morning.) She wants everything to be perfect for their first
time. They eat and then after talking about it being their first time again,
decide to get to it, and start kissing and undressing. They're interrupted
by the fire getting out of the fireplace and the alarm going off. Joe tries to
smother it while Karen tries to throw cold water on it - hitting Joe instead.
They get the fire out and are interrupted by 4 very rude firemen who come
rushing in and shoving them around attempting to find the fire. They were
summoned because the building alarm is wired to the station. Being pros,
they finally notice that there is no fire. Winston arrives and is amused by
the fact that Joe is topless and Karen is just wearing a bra. Winston leaves
along with the firemen. Joe starts kissing Karen, she wants to clean up
first but finally gives in. Afterwards, they talk once again about it being
their first time and it was perfect.

Lucy asks Chris where Eve is. He suggests that Lucy send Eve to do
runway work in Japan or Milan. Eve appears and fills Lucy in on the
trip to the mental hospital where Rex was a patient. Lucy tells Eve
that she needs to talk to Kevin and tells her that Rex proposed. Eve
agrees to ask Kevin to meet Lucy on the roof.

The hospital guy tells Kevin and Scott that Rex wasn't really mentally
ill - he thinks the family just put him there to get him out of the way.
He then tells them that though it sounds unprofessional, he thinks Rex
was just plain evil. Scott points out the picture of Rex and the unknown
man and HG confirms that the picture is of Rex and a friend. (Note: He
does not point out which person is Rex.) He doesn't remember much
about the friend, only that he and Rex were tight. He leaves to attend to
another Patient and Scott takes the photo as a souvenir (as the gift shop
is closed.)

Meanwhile, Rex is sending red roses to Lucy's room and signing the card
"Crazy." Oops! I mean "Crazy for you - Love Rex."

Chris gets a call from his Dad - he needs more money. Chris tells him he
doesn't have it - he had to use most of the insurance settlement to pay his
tuition. He tells him he'll see what he can do and hangs up, muttering
"Jerk." Later, Chris' attorney Dave arrives. Chris wants the last installment
of the insurance payment. Since that won't be available for two months,
Chris asks Dave to lend him $5000. He refuses, telling Chris he needs to
live more cheaply. He tells him to get rid of the fancy car and Chris tells
him that a fancy car is what got them the money, including a hefty percentage
for the lawyer. The lawyer reminds him that the accident and Chris' suffering
were legit and the other person was at fault. Dave asks about the Q fellow-
ship that would lead to higher pay. Chris says that's months away. Dave
offers to loan him $1000 - Chris accepts. Dave leaves and Chris tells himself
that he has to win that fellowship. Chris sends a check to his dad, and Eve
arrives. She is suspicious that he said nice things about Matt in the article,
somehow she thinks this is a way to keep her from getting the Q fellowship.

Up on the roof, Scott asks Lucy if she recognizes the guy with Rex. She
doesn't. She tells them about Rex' proposal and that she is going to say
yes. For some reason, this does not make Kevin very happy. She explains
that she's not going to marry him, just get engaged. They all go over the
same tired ground - it's all for Serena, Kevin is worried, yada, yada, yada.
There is one good line - Lucy says she's been engaged lots of times - just
because you get engaged to someone doesn't mean you have to marry them.
Worst case, in her opinion, is that Rex gets custody of Serena and she gets
to be her stepmom. Lucy accuses Kevin of trying to control her and he
denies it - Rex is dangerous.
