PC Update: Wednesday, 21 January 1998

[Question: Does anyone know if Lark *does* or *does not* know about
Julie being held captive by Cooper (before Wednesday's show)? She did
look genuinely surprised, but I may have missed a scene where she
learned about it and got _Ransom_ on purpose.]

Ellen is at Karen's door. So is the pizza delivery guy. Ellen is not
impressed that Joe called in sick to work. He's to report to work and
to apologize to Chris (who is subbing for him). Karen comes to the door
wondering where the pizza is and is shocked to see Dr. Burgess. Joe
tries to protect her from Ellen's wrath. Ellen is not too happy with
them.

At the hospital, Scott tells Kevin that Serena's having nightmares about
the kidnapper. She can't see the face of the kidnapper — she wakes in
the same spot in the dream. Kevin suggests hypnosis, Scott refuses. No
way! Kevin thinks Serena is starting to heal and that hypnosis would
help her. He tells Scott it worked for him in the past. Scott is
worried it would bring stuff to the surface that she can't handle.

Eve comes up to them. She has a message from Lucy. She is having
dinner with Rex at Mario's. She wants Eve and Kevin to be there
pretending they are seeing each other. Scott warns them that Rex is
dangerous. Eve is willing to tear him limb from limb.

Lark arrives home at the Scanlons'. She plays the tape on the answering
machine. Julie is calling Frank. She has tonight off and wants to go
with him to a cozy restaurant. She doesn't reset the tape so that the
message light would be on. Frank enters. They discuss her algebra
homework. Lark and he look over her homework. She offers to make
dinner for him. She makes great spaghetti, she says. She goes to buy
groceries and rent movies.

Kevin is to pick Eve up at 7pm. He leaves. Chris overheard and bugs
Eve about the abundance of men in her life. Joe shows up at the
hospital. Chris is surprised, as Joe is supposed to be on death's
door. He admits that Burgess busted him at Karen's. Ellen checks that
Frank apologized to Chris. She gives them all a spiel about how
dishonesty can spread to other parts of work. He and Karen have
compromised the trust they all need to have in each other. He explains
that Karen had nothing to do with it. She says he needs to act more
responsibly. Ellen leaves. Chris almost feels sorry for him and passes
him a stack of files.

Lark and Frank are going over math problems. He encourages her to keep
working at algebra. Julie arrives and wonders why he's not dressed to
go out. Of course, there's no message on the machine, so he didn't know
he was supposed to be. Lark's cooking, so they can't go out, but they
can stretch the meal. Lark's movie pick turns out to be _Ransom_.
Frank explains to Lark why it wasn't a good pick (Julie's captivity by
Cooper). Lark says she didn't realize and offers to get another. Julie
says she wouldn't pass up an opportunity to see Mel Gibson.

Scott's at Gail's, as is the obligatory social worker. They are all
concerned about Serena's dreams. Gail thinks Kevin's idea about
hypnosis is a good one. Gail thinks it will let her release her pent up
feelings.

Serena enters and is happy to see her dad. Scott asks Serena about her
dream. She describes being in the room at the kidnapper's, going to the
door and looking out the keyhole, seeing the kidnapper's feet, then
legs, then she gets too scared to look further and wakes up.

At the hospital, Ellen asks about Frank about potassium supplements he
prescribed for Alice. Ellen calls him a good doctor, but he made a bad
call today. One that could jeopardize the Quartermaine fellowship. He
needs to give 100%. She leaves. Matt wants to know why Joe looks so
bummed out, although he has heard through the grapevine that Burgess
caught him. Joe says that what's wrong is that Burgess is right — he
doesn't look before he leaps. Since he was a kid, and even now. Matt
asks him to imagine himself old, with a broken ankle, lost in the
forest. Off in the distance is a light. He hast to set himself on that
light and forget his pain and cold. That's what it takes to be a
doctor.

At Chez Scanlon, Lark goes to bed before the end of the movie. Julie
thinks that she and Lark are not clicking, while Lark seems to be trying
with Frank. Julie feels sorry for her. Frank makes light of her
concerns about Julie and Lark's relationship [he is only concerned with
wanting to make out].

Lucy and Rex are at Mario's. He tells her he wants her in a bed of
orchids. Eve and Kevin show up. Eve and Kevin discuss the charade
while pretending to flirt. Rex bugs Lucy to say yes to his proposal.
She says yes and kisses hi. Kevin passionately and flamboyantly kisses
Eve in response. Rex orders champagne for the happiest couple in the
world.
