An episode in which Scotty gets in even more trouble...

Lucy is on the phone at Rex's, talking to Albert the accountant, trying
to get pictures of Rex (for a scrapbook she says she wants to do for a
surprise for the engagement party). She reminds him they're registered
at Cristophe's and Tiffany's (she says to herself that she may as well
get the loot).

At the hospital, Scott and Eve are looking for Gail. Grace tells them
that she called saying that she couldn't come in to work. Scott and Eve
then tell Kevin that Gail called Scott — the FBI has taken Serena into
protective custody because there is a death threat against Serena.
Scott is upset that he can't protect Serena. Gail didn't have time to
tell Scott any of the details. Scott has called the FBI, but he
couldn't get any information. Lee comes up to them. He has the address
where she is being taken. Scott takes off to find Serena.

Mary is at the hospital with Lark. Mary slipped and hit her head while
cleaning the kitchen at the boys' house [what, they can't clean their
own kitchen?]. She slipped because the rug by the sink was missing.
Lark looks slightly guilty about this. Lark wants to know where Frank
is. She goes to try and find him in the hospital.

Chris, Ellen and Matt discuss that Keith Simmons's spinal cord has been
severed. Ellen has to tell him. Matt offers to go with her. Chris
wants to know how they will break the news. They will be up-front and
truthful. The doctor that told Matt about his injury was cold and
uncaring. At first, he didn't believe the doctor, then scared, then
angry. He had lots of rage and nothing to do with it.

Grace meets nurse Kelly in the hallway. Kelly's been away for awhile,
and wants to gossip about Joe and Karen being caught by Burgess and on
the roof. Mary overhears everything. Grace tries to cut the gossip off
by saying that they're good doctors.

Lucy is looking for Rex (wearing a great slinky, black dress). Greg
tells Lucy Rex went out.

Conklin is driving Gail and Serena to someplace safe. Serena wants to
know if Scott will be there — she is told he won't be. Conklin calls
Boyton. They will be there in 15 minutes. Boyton has a gun.

Rex is at Boyton's door. Boyton wants to liquidate Serena. He doesn't
care if he loses his chance at the fortune — he can't spend it in
prison. He's worried he'll be identified by Serena and a police
artist. Rex tries to persuade him that nothing will happen — she's only
a kid. Boyton threatens to plea bargain and tell all if he's caught.
Rex says he realizes now what needs to be done.

Karen sutures Mary's head. They discuss when Mary fixed a scraped elbow
of Karen's when Karen was a kid. Mary is not looking very pleased with
Karen. Joe come in. Mary says she should sue him and Frank. She's not
very pleasant to Joe, either. Karen leaves. Joe puts a bandage on the
boo-boo. Mary is not happy about the hospital buzzing about him and
Karen. She blames Karen for being a bad influence. She thinks that
Karen is ruining his chances — chances that Frank worked hard for. Joe
leaves and Mary calls Karen a witch.

Ellen and Matt visit Keith. They tell him his spinal cord is severed
and can't be reattached. They tell him he'll be paralyzed. He doesn't
want to end up in a chair, a cripple, like Matt. Matt tries to tell him
that it's OK to be angry and to use his anger to attack physical
therapy. They leave him alone in his hospital room.

Gail and Serena arrive in the car at the safe house. Boyton (holding
the gun) tells Rex it's time to kiss his witness goodbye. Rex jumps him
and the gun goes off. They overhear the gunshot in the car. Conklin
calls it in to headquarters.

Eve remarks that Joe seems a little upset. He tells her that his mother
knows everything about his and Karen's escapades. Lark comes up and
wants to know where Mary is. Joe tells her she went home long ago, and
he wants to know where Lark's been. She tells him she was looking for
Frank. He asks her about the sink rug, and Lark says that she took it
for her room. Joe says she should have asked permission — it was there
for a reason. Lark gets defensive. Eve steps in and says she'll put it
back. Lark sucks up to Eve, but of course Eve catches her at it. Lark
admires Eve for catching on to the sucking up.

Matt and Ellen discuss Keith. Ellen wonders if the pity exhibited by
Keith (and others) still gets to him. Matt says it doesn't really get
any easier with time.

Lucy is on the phone to Clem, another of Rex's acquaintances, trying to
get more pictures. Rex returns home, so obviously he wasn't the one who
got shot. She wants to know where he was — he says he was on a personal
matter.

Scott shows up at the safe house. He goes in and sees Boyton on the
floor with a chest wound, and checks on him. The FBI show up. Scott
runs for a back door — the FBI tell him to freeze and put his hands up.
Scott does so.
