From: lisa@clark.net (Lisa Spodak) Subject: PC: Update Tuesday 2/3/98 Date: 5 Feb 1998 15:31:07 GMT (I was having major problems getting this to post last night, so, if by some fluke it *did* post and I just can't tell, I'm very sorry for the repetition.) Port Charles Update, February 3, 1998 Eve and Kevin are on their way to Lucy and Rex's engagement party. Kevin says he's going to tell Rex THE TRUTH. Eve protests, "God knows what he'll do to her." But Kevin is all fired up, "I already know what he *wants* to do to her." Lucy arrives at the party. Apparently she was hoping to make a fashionably late entrance, but is dismayed that there really isn't anyone there yet to impress. She's all set for the opportunity for her and her beau to present themselves to all of Port Charles as a "true regal couple." Rex asks her how her meeting with Scott went and she tells him Scott is being selfish and doesn't see how Serena would be better off with her and Rex. Rex assures her that they'll get custody, but Lucy says she isn't sure they'll get Serena away from Lee and Gail. Rex intimates that he's got something pretty scandalous on them and that no judge would let them keep custody. Lucy tries to get him to tell her what he's got, but his lips are sealed. Besides, he says, she'll hear all about it when the custody hearing starts, tomorrow. Lucy is shocked that it's starting so soon and tries to get him to push it back so it won't interfere with the wedding and honeymoon, but Rex refuses to waste another minute in trying to get custody of Serena. (His attitude toward the child is pretty clear... talking about getting a nanny right away and how she'll never distract him from Lucy). Audrey and Tony show up at the party. Lucy introduces them to Rex, and Tony, as one of her former husbands, warns him "I hope you know what you're letting yourself in for." Meanwhile, back at the hospital... Matt returns a mysterious phone call. Something is "coming down" and he's *not* happy about it. Joe apologizes to the orderly for his blow up the other day. Mary overhears... and looks pleased. Amy is gushing over Lucy's ring: "I think that ring is even bigger than the one that Alan gave you... but it does lack the simple, understated elegance of the one Tony gave you. You are acquiring quite a collection, aren't you?" Lucy tells her to have some caviar, "it improves the brain cells." Amy starts wondering where everyone is... Jax, Brenda, Felicia. Even Katherine, who would at least make fun of what Lucy's wearing. Lucy tells Amy to stuff a big fat meatball in her mouth. Amy kind of smirks "no-shows" after Lucy huffs away. Lucy admits to Rex that she's mortified that nobody is showing up for her beautiful party. She thinks Luke is lying about being out of the country and is upset about Alan not being there and can't understand how Felicia couldn't treck over from the other side of town, after Lucy took off with her for Paris... as a nun, even! (Gotta say, I always watch PC and GH so I don't always even really separate them as two shows, but it was really nice to seem some old GH faces show up... and to hear references to what's going on over on GH. I thought the crossovers and refs were handled really well... and were fun.) Audrey comes over to say goodbye and Lucy confronts her, asking why she thinks nobody came to the party. AFter a little bit of pressure, Audrey finally admits that she thinks it's because of what Lucy did to Scott at his trial. Lucy tries to blow it off and asks if it isn't just water under the bridge. Audrey points out that people in Port Charles tend to hold grudges. Tony says he's leaving, too. Lucy practically begs him to stay--and then totally puts her foot in her mouth trying to make him feel better about the Carly/baby situation. Tony says she's still the same as she's always been--saying exactly what she wants to and then going "oops" when she hurts someone. Lucy says that was really unkind and he says it was meant to be. He also says there's a great resemblance between her and Carly. Lucy is upset--says she really needs a friend and thought she and Tony could still remain a little bit close. Tony says he thought it was great that she was engaged to Kevin, but can't understand how she ended up with Rex. When Rex comes over, Tony makes his escape, telling Lucy that he hopes she gets everything she wants. Kevin and Eve make their entrance. Eve is telling Kevin he can't spill the beans to Rex without warning Lucy first. Kevin is fine with that: "You warn, I'll spill." Rex and Lucy come over to say hello. Kevin gives them a rather large, nicely wrapped gift... Rex says he can almost respect a man who loses with such style. Rex riles Kevin up a bit by making comments like "lucy and I were saying last night, just before we, uh, went to sleep..." Of course, Kevin comes back with "Gosh, you two have nothing better to do in bed than talk about me?" Rex takes him off to show him a first edition copy of Freud's "Interpretation of Dreams." Kevin forges all sorts of enthusiasm. Eve tries to warn Lucy that Kevin is about to blow, but Lucy is more concerned about the whole Eve-and-Kevin-as-a-couple thing... even though she orchestrated the whole thing. Kevin and Rex are looking at the Freud first edition and do a bit of verbal sparring and one-upmanship. Rex offers to lend Kevin some books--to help him pass the time now that he's lost Lucy. Let the sparring begin... Rex talks about Lucy's little "quirks"... like insisting on silk sheets. Kevin points out that he and Lucy preferred Egyptian cotton... since silk sheets lack, what was it, class. Rex talks about the cute little noises Lucy makes when she sleeps. Kevin says he thought she'd gotten over that... and they have to do with sexual tension... and reluctance and reticence. When Rex asks Kevin if he's getting a bit hot under the collar, Kevin directs him to Chapter 6 in the Freud... the section on transference. Back where the folks wear white jackets... Matt tells Dr. Burgess he needs a week off for a personal emergency--a death in the family. She says 2 or 3 days would be okay... but a week is impossible. Matt is insistent. When she says again that it's not doable, he says he has no choice and has to have the week... and leaves. Mary is proud of Joe for apologizing to the orderly. They have a big discussion about Joe and Frank's father. Joe remembers him as being abusive, but Mary remembers him as a good man who just had a temper. Joe reminds her about times he trashed the house and ruined presents and "whaled on" Joe and Frank. But Mary is indignant and defensive and tells him not to talk about his father like that. Joe says he refuses to shut his eyes anymore to what his father was. Time for presents! Amy got Rex and Lucy a leash... to keep Rex from getting away. Lucy is not amused. Eve asks Kevin if he's spilled the beans to Rex yet. Kevin says he has something better in mind for Rex, and gives him the big present--which he warns him not to shake. "I hope this says better than words how I feel about your wedding to Lucy." Kevin is practically chortling as they open the gift... a SKUNK, named Gustave! Rex tries to give the animal back to Kevin and tells him to go home. I'm just glad I don't have smell-o-vision... 'cause good old Gustave did his little spraying thing and fumigated the place in seconds. Lucy is aghast: "Kevin Collins, how could you do this to my party?!" Everyone escapes outside. Kevin manages to look surprised at the havoc he's wreaked. Joe tells Karen about the conversation with his mother and is disturbed that Mary glossed the whole thing over. Joe says he doesn't want to be like his father. Chris is exhausted and asks Grace to check the schedule so he can see what's in store and when he might have time to crash. She shows him the preliminary schedule... and Matt is nowhere to be found on it for the whole week. Chris is pissed... and Burgess, who comes up and sees the schedule is surprised, she hasn't changed the schedule and doesn't know who *has.* Rex thanks Kevin for the thoughtful gift with a punch in the face. Kevin returns the favor--with a thank you for the chance for some catharsis and his very own punch in the face. People pull them apart and Kevin yells that he'll never let Rex get Lucy. QED Have a great night! Lisa
