From: maclatch <maclatch@unbsj.ca> Subject: PC: Update, Wednesday, 18 March, 1998 Date: Thu, 19 Mar 1998 08:59:23 -0400 Port Charles Update: Wednesday, 18 March 1998 The theme for today's show is "family relationships". Thankfully (for this updater!), there were no miracle-in-the-lab plots today. And, two dangling stories get picked up again ÷ Ellen and her mom, and Kevin and his dad. Mothers and Daughters: Alice is at the hospital to pick up Ellen, who has been discharged. Alice wants to know if Ellen has changed her mind about getting to know each other better. Ellen says she hasn't, she's just been busy [fighting organized crime, helping a "friend" on the run, getting almost killed ÷ it's been a tough couple of weeks! :)]. Alice wants to take Ellen home with her, so that she can look after her. Ellen refuses, she wants to go home. Alice bribes her with the oxtail soup she used to make her when she was a kid. Ellen sticks to her guns. Alice teases her that she needs to get a tent because her apartment is in bad shape. Joe, Eve and Julie look on during this conversation, and quite enjoy seeing Dr. Burgess being bossed around by her mom. They agree with Alice that Ellen needs post-hospital care. Alice and Ellen go off to look at Ellen's apartment to see what shape it's in ÷ the "compromise": Alice will decide if it is fit for Ellen to return to. The Ties that don't Bind: Lark comes in. She has a typical Julie run-in. Lark doesn't want Julie to spread it around the hospital that she's Frank's foster kid. Julie leaves and Eve tells her to smarten up. She needs *all* of the interns (including Julie) to sign off on her community service. Otherwise, she'll be back in front of a judge. Fathers and Sons: Lucy tells Doc that dinner is ready. She is saving money, not by cooking herself, but by serving leftovers from yesterday's take out. Victor calls Kevin. He sounds distressed. The line is crackly and breaking up. Kevin hears Victor say: " I won't stand for it any longer. I'm going to end it now". The phone is hung up or goes dead at the other end. Siblings: Chris and Bobby are at Matt and Grace's hideout. Grace opens the door and Chris introduces Bobby as a federal marshal. Grace tells them that Matt is gone and will call them when he's safe. Bobby goes to leave ÷ Matt wheels out of the closet with a gun on Bobby. Bobby drops his gun and Grace picks it up. Matt gets her to search him. Chris keeps saying: "He's a federal marshal ÷ what are you doing?". Grace finds more weapons. Matt orders Bobby onto his knees and informs Grace and Chris that Bobby is a killer ÷ and his brother. Sons and Fathers: Kevin calls Victor's present care facility. He sends a nurse to check on him in his room. His father is not there. The Bait: Lark is reading to a patient. Jake comes in. She impresses him with her use of big medical words. She introduces herself as Chlo‘, a pre-med student at PCU. She asks him for med school advice ÷ Harvard or Cornell. The Brothers: Matt tells a tale of growing up as Bobby's little brother, learning the family business. Matt says he didn't want to go through with a killing. He tried to warn the intended victim, but Bobby was able to kill him anyway. Matt went to his dad because he wanted out. Matt never wanted to testify against his family, he only did so after Bobby shot him in the back. Matt asks Grace to call the cops. Big Brother Bob stops them by implying he came with back-up. The Hook: Jake tells Joe of an impressive candy-striper he has encountered. Joe teases him that it seems he was not just taken with her mind, otherwise, why the big grin on his face? The Search: A police officer (not even officer Rick!) comes to the lighthouse. He is there to ask questions about Victor. He wants to know if Victor is dangerous to himself or others; Kevin says no, but his judgement is impaired. Victor doesn't know a lot of places in PC. Kevin is to stay home as Victor might come there or call. Kevin is worried about his dad. Sibling Rivalry: Bobby threatens Ellen. Matt threatens Bob. In the game of one upmanship, Bobby asks Matt to call Ellen's to see who answers. Partners: The phone rings at the Lighthouse. It's Serena, wishing them good-night. Kevin is worried about where Victor is going to sleep. Kevin is upset that he's let Victor down by ignoring him and shuffling him from one facility to another (the last of which doesn't even seem to have a name). Lucy is supportive of Kevin as he kicks himself while he is down. [I love these two when they are like this in the middle of a crisis!] The phone rings. Victor's at GH. The Catch: Lark tells Jake how much she likes being a part of the hospital. Jake asks her to go for coffee. She accepts. Families in Crisis: Grace calls Ellen at home. Ellen's there. She and her mom are tied in chairs, and some "hood" is looking over them. Matt threatens Bob, but Bob is back to his cocky self. He will trade Matt's life for theirs. End of episode.
