PORT CHARLES - THE LARK REPORT

In case you're wondering why this update is so late, it's because
we let teenager from hell, Lark Madison write it. It was part of
her community service sentence. Between her schoolwork,
volunteering at the hospital, seducing Jake and bickering with
Julie, she finds it difficult to squeeze in an update. Plus, she was
halfway through writing it, when the computer ate it. But finally
here it is... Lark's report. Keep in mind that Lark has never seen
the show before.

This is unbelievable. I have to watch this stupid boring show.
It's cruel and unusual punishment. Okay here goes. There's
these two guys in this hotel room. Matt and Chris. Chris has
brought Matt a couple of brown paper bags full of stuff, like
wires and metal and things. Matt says he's building a bomb. Chris
freaks. Matt says that some guy named Bobby is lying about
trading Ellen for him. He's going to kill both of them. Chris
wants to know how Matt knows how to build a pipe bomb.
Bobby taught him. Chris asks what else his big brother taught
him. (Oh it's his brother trying to kill him. That is so messed up!)
Chris still doesn't like the bomb idea, but Matt tells him to
shut up and do what he's told.

Eve's rich boyfriend, Scott Baldwin is in an apartment with an
older black lady. There's a knock on the door. It's Grace. Scott
lets her in. She tells him that the rendezvous is set for some
food warehouse. Alice says that doesn't sound right. The guy
who took Ellen said Wharf side. (Oh... the one Bobby is holding.
Now it kind of makes sense.) Scott asks Grace if Matt would lie
to her and she says he absolutely would. Scott says he going
there and Grace can't come. But Grace goes anyway.

Hey! Way cool. It's me. And I sure do look good. Jake and
I are in that cheesy bar. I'm gushing about how great his work
in the lab is, because guys like it when you think whatever they're
doing is great. He's eating it up with a spoon. He tries to be modest
and says it was just a fluke. Last semester's science class finally
comes in handy. "Like Dr. Fleming discovering penicillin." He's
very impressed that I can come up with one fact. What kind of
girls has he been going out with? I tell him that he's impressed
me, and he asks if that's easy to do. "Easier for some than
others," I tell him. I spot Eve coming in the door, and tell
Jake I have to go to the ladies' room. Eve asks for her order at
the bar and then sits down with Jake. She asks Jake to tell her
about his new girlfriend. I like the part where he says I'm
"Extremely beautiful".Eve insists she won't leave until she's
met "Chloe", but she leaves as soon as her food is ready. I
come out and suggest we have another cup of coffee.

Joe's girlfriend Karen comes into the lab and she's all happy
because someone named Fred has made a complete recovery.
Something about accelerated nerve something or other. She
says it could help a lot of people. Joe says something about
all the money she's spent on that Ferret, (oh... Fred's a
ferret. This is stupid.) She could have funded the research
herself. Some old Doctor guy comes in and tells them they
have to replicate the experiment before they start counting
the money. He wants to see all their research. He leaves
and they both say how much they hate him.

Chris lifts the warehouse door and complains that it's too dark.
Somebody says that he told Matt to come alone. Chris says he
didn't want to miss out on all the fun. Chris says to turn the
lights on. The lights come on and a man comes out of the
shadows. (That must be Bobby, Matt's evil brother.) Chris
asks where Dr. Burgess is. Ellen comes out of the shadows.
And Bobby says, "Come on out Ironside." (What's he mean
by that?) Matt comes in and asks how Ellen is. She's okay.
"You didn't tell me you had such a charming family."
"Ironside?" says Matt, "You're dating yourself, Bobby." (With
his personality no one else would.) Bobby has a bug or
something in his ear, so the guy in the roof can talk to him.
The guy is aiming a gun and is ready to shoot everyone when
Bobby says to.

Oh, good, back to the really interesting part, my scenes. Jake
and I come out of the Recovery Room. He wants to see me
home. That would be a really bad idea. I tell him he has to
go back to his lab and save the world. (Or at least put a stop
to that awful Karen and Joe nonsense.) I ask him if he'd have
time for dinner sometime. He asks if tomorrow would be too
soon. No that's great with me! "You know," I start, "I was
thinking." "About what?" he asks. "Doing this," I say, and
kiss him. I ask him if I can pick the place for dinner. He
agrees.

Just great, more of those stupid lab scenes. Can't I just skip
these parts. That's what a fast forward button is for. Okay,
okay I'll do it. Karen and Joe thank Eve for dinner. They
talk about how much money this drug is going to make. (Is
that wholesale or street value?) Karen says that they've got to
finish the research first, but she can't find her notes. The old
Doctor guy, Dr. Devlin comes in with her notes and tells them
he's been looking over the results. He thought Karen was
smart to inject at the point of the injury. Joe and Karen say
he had no right to look at the notes, there was personal stuff
in there. He says he's there supervisor and can look at anything
he wants. He expects regular reports. Those are the rules.
He asks Karen if she has a problem with that. She does, but
says she doesn't.

Bobby's goon is still aiming a gun at Ellen and Matt. Matt
asks Bobby if he's ready to bargain, and Bobby says he
doesn't see Matt holding any cards. Matt says even though
he's not a boy scout, he always comes prepared. Bobby
sneers and says that Matt can't do anything from that
wheelchair. Bobby calls Matt "Eric" so I guess that's his real
name. Matt says this is supposed to be a trade, not a
massacre, and his name's not Eric. Matt moves forward
and Bobby says that's close enough. Matt begins to unzip
his jacket and Bobby yells at him to watch it. Matt has
that bomb he made strapped to his stomach. "I'm wired so
deep I could take out the entire building." (Wow! This is pretty
cool. I'm going to make some popcorn to go with this....
I'm back. Gee, I hope this cute Chris guy makes it out alive.)
"My god Matt, don't," Ellen shrieks. Matt says Bobby's not
planning to let anyone out alive. "Nice move," Bobby tells
him. He's hurt that Matt doesn't trust him. (Not!) Matt
says that Bobby better tell his man up there to back off.
Bobby says he'd rather kill Matt himself. Matt says to tell
whoever he brought with him to take a hike. "Or we are all
gonna die, right here, right now."

Oh, my gosh, this is what was happening right before I got home.
Frank is looking really thoughtful and gorgeous. Julie starts
to whine about me sneaking out, even though there's a court
order. I come in right then and sit down on the steps to listen
to what my "elders" are saying about me. Julie says I'm
obviously out of control. Frank said it's obvious I wanted to
get caught because I want attention. (Where does he get
this crap. I didn't want to get caught. If I had wanted to
get caught I would have left a note that said, "Hey, I'm going
out with Jake.") Julie says I need to be in an institutional facility.
(That witch, that....[We're sorry, but we've had to edit out Lark's
comments due to explicit content.] ) Good old Frank, says he won't
send me back. He won't come down on me so hard they lose me
for good emotionally. Julie says I'm nothing but emotion and
I should learn to put a lid on it. I've heard enough of this. I come
the rest of the way down the stairs. Frank demands to know where
I've been. I tell him I've been out taking a walk. "You broke the
rules," Frank tells me. "Again," Julie jumps in. Frank gives her
a dirty look. He'll handle this. "Your grounded." (What's that the
fifth time this week?) I object, and say I've done my homework and
my work at the hospital, and I just wanted to get a breath of fresh
air. He insists that I go to school, and do community service, come
home and nothing else. (Ooh, I'm so scared.)

More Karen and Joe and Eve. They whine about Devlin stealing
their notes, and stealing the credit for their experiments. (You
know they're not even thinking about consulting my sweetie, Jake.
Isn't this his experiment too.) Joe comes up with the brilliant idea
to give Devlin the wrong results, so he thinks they're not making
much progress. Eve agrees. They'll keep the real results to
themselves. Karen worries that it might be unethical, and it could
get them kicked out of the program. (No loss.) Joe says they'll
have to be careful.

In this next scene I confront Julie. I tell her I don't want her
interfering between me and Frank. Julie gets that insufferable
little superior smirk on her face, and says that Frank and I
aren't a couple. (I didn't say we were. Though he's done worse.)
She's says as long as I'm living in her apartment she'll give me
her opinion whenever she feels like it. (And she always feels like
it.) I tell her that she's trying to turn Frank against me. (Hey, I
heard her trying to tell him I should be institutionalized. Aside
from going after me with a knife how could she be more
obvious.) Julie says that if Frank's disappointed in me it's my
own fault. (And if Frank's not disappointed, she'll make sure
he is.) "You're jealous," I tell her. "Frank wants to take care of me."
I think I hit a nerve there, because she got very snarky. "Frank
would be protective of any lost child." "I'm not a baby."
"That's exactly what you are. An overgrown baby who doesn't
know how to take any responsibility." "Oh, and I suppose you'll
teach me?" "I'm not interested in teaching you how to tie your
shoes." (She probably doesn't know how.) "Stay out of my way
and I'll stay out of yours," I tell her. "I don't make bargains with
children. Be a good girl and go to bed." She says in a cutesy voice,
and flounces off to her room. Unbelievable. I'll show her whose
a baby, and I'll be a good girl in bed too.

Bobby and Matt are still in a standoff. Bobby doesn't think Matt
has the guts to blow them all up. Chris looks like he thinks Matt
does have the guts, "Don't test him." Bobby tells him to shut up.
Bobby says Matt's not a killer. Meanwhile up in the rafters, Scott
is sneaking up on Bobby's goon. Matt is going on about how he
used to look up to Bobby when they were kids, but Bobby didn't
really know Matt. Bobby still thinks he's bluffing. Grace has also
snuck in. She's behind Ellen and Bobby. The goon spots her and
tells Bobby she's there. Scott knocks the guy out right after that.
Grace turns out the lights and Bobby shoots at her. Matt and
Bobby both start shooting at each other. Then there's just Matt's
gun firing while Ellen screams his name. (Boy, I hope I'm not
too busy to watch this show again.)
